Maria, I think TB wants to be seen as the 'man who can'.
He had high hopes of being in politics I believe.
If he can make a name for himself in this case (which IMO is what it is all about), then he hopes a career in politics will take him to high places and many votes.
Tony Bennett='the man who can'.

I know Maria, that he isn't thinking about the McCanns case as much as a selfish reason to gain publicity. I have gathered this all along.

The meeting is 27th Feb 2010.
From Rhodes blog, TB emailed Amaral and asked him to attend in AUGUST and Amaral replied that he would attend.
This was BEFORE the recent court ruling of his book.
So...????
Can he? Will he??
My guess is NO he will NOT attend.
But you can bet your bottom dollar TB will post that he is (maybe) attending!
Just like his '150 people are EXPECTED to attend'

Maria, you are absolutely correct. He's a very little man who aspired to be a greater man than his father and he has failed miserably. He failed at politics and he failed at law. The only thing he has achieved any degree of success at is to be a thorn in the flesh of those he envies in life. That will be his epitaph.

THE disgraced cop who led the search for missing Madeleine McCann before pointing the finger at her parents is to be the key speaker at a Midland conference about her disappearance.

Chief Inspector Gonçalo Amaral was booted off the case after blasting the British police’s handling of the inquiry.

But he made a reported £1 million from a book claiming Maddie was dead, and that Kate and Gerry McCann had concealed her body.
Last week a Portuguese judge banned Maddie: The Truth About The Lie from bookshelves because of its unfounded allegations. The fallen cop also faces a lawsuit from the McCanns.

But the Sunday Mercury can reveal that Amaral will not be silenced.

He has agreed to give the keynote speech at a conference organised by the Madeleine McCann Foundation, a group also claiming that the Rothley, Leicestershire girl’s death was covered up.

As many as 150 people are expected to attend the conference in Castle Donington, just 16 miles from Maddy’s home.

Organisers are refusing to divulge the exact whereabouts of the venue until three days before it begins.

Last night they said it was for “confirmed McCann-sceptics who do not believe that Madeleine McCann was abducted”.
Secretary Anthony Bennett said: “We have a venue for the conference, booked and arranged.

“We dare not give out the venue publicly because of threats of disruption we have had from supporters of the McCann family.
“However, I am able to share one piece of news with you.

Gonçalo Amaral, the author of Maddie: A Verdada da Mentira (Maddie: The Truth About The Lie’) has agreed to be the key guest speaker at our conference.”

Amaral, 49, worked on the original investigation into Madeleine’s disappearance from her family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz on the Algarve coast of Portugal in May 2007.

He claimed that Gerry and Kate McCann, both 41, covered up their daughter´s death, even though there was no evidence to support his theory.
In July 2008 the McCanns were cleared of any wrongdoing in a formal report by Portugal´s Attorney General Jose Pinto Monteiro. They are suing Amaral for £1 million for defamation, and for breaching their human rights.

They also plan to take action against the Madeleine McCann Foundation for distributing a leaflet blaming them for Maddie’s disappearance.
The sickening leaflets were received by 10,000 people in the McCanns’ home village of Rothley.

A source close to the couple said they were “totally horrified” by the four-page publication. which said that if she died in the family’s holiday flat those “This is an evil, despicable act,” she said. “These people are self-obsessed, self-absorbed individuals.”
McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “We do not wish to dignify the actions of the so-called Madeleine Foundation in any way.”

Convicted Criminal, liar and perjurer, Goncalo Amaral, will probably be doing at least 8 to 12 years in prison by the date of their next Hate Campaign conference, after being found guilty of torturing and beating up Leonor Cipriano's partner, Leandro. So perhaps they may want to extend the date of their conference by at least 8 years to 2018?

You know, we will take a look at the situation and at Amaral and ask our MPs to block him coming into the UK, especially on the count that we have enough home grown attention seeking fantasist liars like Debbie Butler and Tony Bennett, we do not need anymore, it is never going to arise anyway, as Amaral is going to be in prison by that time. I wonder who is going to be taking him his Christmas dinners while he is in prison?

We notice you do not have too good a memory, after all you forgot to attend the crime scene on the night Madeleine was abducted, you forgot to order that the scene be sealed off and treated as a crime scene for THREE MONTHS and you also forgot to come up with a rational explanation of why two people would kill their daughter, hide her, bury her, dig her up after 25 days, take her back to the original crime scene, break in and put her in there, then take her back to their villa and put her in assorted places, then bury her in the flower bed, dig her up again and then put her in the car and take her for a drive, before burying her on the beach and digging her up again and parcelling her up and then sending her home by Fed-Ex.

Obviously we know better than the three judges and four jurors that found you guilty of offences toward a defenseless woman in custody,they did not know what they were doing despite they had all the evidence to hand, as well as that testimony from an expert medical witness that categorically stated that Leonor's injuries were NOT conducive to a fall down the stairs in the police station, as Goncalo Amaral wrote in his report.

It must have been a very difficult time for you.

Is Amaral able to go anywhere outside Portugal and show his documentary and sign his books? And be available for talks?

This whole situation is beginning to sound like a farce.

Amaral has been banned from repeating any of his claims about the McCanns including the TV programme he made. Copyright has been passed to the McCanns, so any claims from the book will be illegal if the claims are made again without the McCanns permission.

I think the tact that will be used is to quote from the files in a suggestive way to get around it.

I feel treating this seriously gives it credence, which is certainly doesn't deserve. I have no idea about the legalities of such a visit, however, were it to ever become official, we could easily find out and complain. Actually, the best person to complain to in this instance would probably be to our MP, as this would fall in the remit of the Home Office and Home secretary I think.
There is no way this would go unchallenged, don't worry about it.

However, this has all the hallmarks of another lying scam, in order to deflect the news away from Goncalo Amaral today, which portrays both he and his wife as despicable spiteful ignoramuses, why let it?

Still it does show Butler and Bennett up for exactly what they are, liars and con merchants and if it is true, nte Debbie Butler is on the invitation, how long will it be before this woman is arrested for acting in a manner likely to incite hatred?

Mod, if this is genuine (which I seriously do doubt) then by the time next February comes round, Amaral will probably be in prison serving around 8 to 12 years at least and this is a high probability, unlike this silly scam email.

Amarals appearance on the 3 A's we all knew was a scam right from the off, just as we know this is, you have only to see the reply to understand that, it is so transparent, it is laughable.

Rosie I can´t help but be concerned as to the best of my knowledge nobody has yet been arrested. I am beginning to lose faith in the law and the establishment in this case.
All I am asking for is the present legal situation re Amaral. As for giving it credence, I am not in the least concerned what TB and Butler think of me, I am just in need of proper information.

ME again. Hounding of the McCanns says that if Amaral attempts to enter the UK he will be arrested, he is a convicted felon with an 18month sentence hanging over him. Now that´s what I thought. Surely this is correct? I´m off to try to find out.

Sorry Rosemary, you have lost me here, I have no idea what you mean by the silly games thing. Who is playing silly games? I can assure you that the copious amount of hours that Chris and I have put in over the last few days to make something happen wasn't a silly game.

You asked a question and I answered it to the best of my ability and what I said I believe, or else I would not have said it.
I do not think this is a serious issue from Butler and Bennett, I do think they have dreamed this up in order to deflect attention from the bad publicity away from Amaral and I do not think this will ever take place and I do think that if you read the reply supposedly from Amaral this becomes clear, and I do mean that if it ever looked like it would take place, then we would take action. I do not see why you would think this was silly game playing. However, if you would like to contact the Home Office in the UK with your concerns, thy may explain and this would be good because we would all then know for sure.

Also I forgot to add, that i believe this court case where the McCanns were granted an injunction against Amaral publishing more copies of his book in Portugal and their solicitors being given the copyrights and the prohibition place on Amaral speaking about this book etc, I believe this to be the very first in a line of legal moves, I could be wrong, but this seems obvious to me.

Also I do not think that people realise how significant this action actually is and what is starting to happen here, I think we are seeing the the very start of a huge downfall from grace of Goncalo Amaral here and far from banning him from speaking about this in the future, I think that no one will cross the road to to even say hello to him.
As ever we say be patient because there is an awful lot happening behind the scenes.
