How very odd this is. Does this woman WANT to be found is the big question.? And Australia is a big big country. So is Europe and Spain!

What could his reasons be? He was knocked out that night and only recently came out of a coma?

FIND MADDIE AUSSIE Empty Old/New Sighting - The Sun

Post by Rosie Thu Aug 06, 2009 9:09 am

By ANTONELLA LAZZERI

Published: 06 Aug 2009

AN Australian woman believed to hold vital clues to Madeleine McCann's abduction will today become the target of a worldwide hunt.

Private detectives investigating the tot's disappearance for parents Kate and Gerry say the woman spoke to a Brit outside a bar in Barcelona, Spain, three days after Maddie went missing.

Details of the conversation - which only came to light when the witness came forward in recent weeks - have not been revealed.

But a source close to the investigation said: "What this Australian is reported to have said is of enough significant interest to launch a hunt for her.

"We don't know where she is.

"She could still be in Spain, back in Australia, or anywhere else.

"But we need to find her quickly."

Former police chief Dave Edgar, leading the McCanns' investigation team, will unveil an e-fit image of the woman at a press conference in London and appeal for anyone who knows her to come forward.

He will also identify the Barcelona bar.

The British witness, who was on holiday, says he spoke to the woman during the night of May 6, 2007.

The source said: "He only came forward recently and there are reasons for that.

"He has been checked out and seems a credible source.

"The conversation took place three days after Maddie went missing, when few details about her abduction had been reported."

Maddie, who would now be six, was snatched from her bed at a holiday resort in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on May 3.

There have been several reported sightings of Maddie in Australia.

Kate and Gerry, both 41, of Rothley, Leics, are aware of the new development.

It is such a long time, but will reserve judgement until we are told the reasons why this person did not come forward previously, it must be something significant as the detectives seem to understand the reasons why the person has not come forward before. Hopefully the Australian woman can be traced and spoken to.

FIND MADDIE AUSSIE Empty Re: FIND MADDIE AUSSIE

Post by dianeh Thu Aug 06, 2009 9:14 am

I wonder how good a photofit can be done over two years down the track.

Now, unless this is publicised in Australia (on the national news) then it will be very difficult to find her. That is assuming she even lives here, she could live anywhere.

But if she is legit, then if she knows they are looking for her, she would come forward.

There must be more to this story, because it all sounds like someone speculating on what could have happend to Madeleine, not someone who knew what happened. And that is what I would expect, we are only told a tiny part, enough to get it in the papers.

Bluj mentioned he had been knocked out that night and has just come out of a coma. I asked for a source for that information.

Mum just rang, there was a segment on this, on the Channel Nine Today show. Not just on the news segment, but its own segment. I missed it, because I dont watch that channel.

I will check later and see if there is a video posted of it. It will be interesting to see how they cover this over here.

No, no...I was being factitious, as it is astonishing to me that "he had his reasons" (that is from the article) for the past two years, considering this is the most famous missing child case in the world. Sorry for the confusion. :)

Australian articles saying man, but on Today show it was apparently a woman.

Going to be hard to track down the person if no one knows if it is a man or a woman.

Yes am unsure if its a man or woman?
It seems a man has come forward who spoke to a woman (aussie) in a Spanish bar, 3 days after Madeleine disappeared?
That seems to be the latest news??

An e-fit image of the suspect is expected to be issued by David Edgar, the retired detective who now leads the search for the missing girl.

Mr Edgar will give details of the development and an update on the investigation at a press conference in London at 11am.

________________________________________________

I understand what you are saying Alex, but maybe the reputation of the PI's and the high profile of this disappearence has the eyes and ears of the media and that is why we can expect to here about this press conference.

I'm sure they will be being advised legally.
