There are three statements in the files from the Smith family: Martin (59) Peter and Aoife (son,33, and daughter, 12) given to PJ on 2007/05/26 in Portimão. They all coincide, they state time sighting about 22:00. The Smiths did not participate in the searches, some members having flown back home the 4th or around it. These three came back later for the deposition.

Would you still like me to translate these statements? Because I DO BELIEVE this sighting is more viable than Janne's -- and yet it HAS NOT been investigated.

Well, everything I couldfind re MARTIN Smith is already translated or transcribed. His son's and daughter's statements on the 26th Septmber 2007 only confirm his own statement given that day.

Reading this (new) documentation, it is crystal clear that Amaral did not give a toss about the sighting, he was already into something else. After the September statement, the new investigation team asked (quickly, I would say) the rigth question: CAN YOU IDENTIFY GERRY MCCANN. And with all honesty, Smith said, on his own words NO. And the team and the prosecutor understood these words and this answer.
