WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2009/11/30/sickening-115875-21861136/
Family fury as teen who raped girl, 7, ordered to pay just £85 - exclusive
She suffered a horrific rape at the hands of a teenage brute that left her so traumatised she wakes up screaming almost every night.
But the seven-year-old victim's attacker walked free from court and was ordered to pay a paltry £85 in costs - before she was offered theme park tickets as compensation.
And the thug was not even placed on the sex offenders' register for his sickening attack, leaving him free to work with kids.
The girl's parents last night spoke of their disgust at the soft sentence and said the 15-year-old has robbed their daughter, known as Laura, of her childhood.
Dad Robert, 34, added: "Our lives have been left shattered by what he did to her.
"He has stolen Laura's childhood, her innocence. It breaks my heart. Sometimes, she sits on my knee and asks, 'Daddy, do you still love me even though I'm dirty now?'
"She never used to have nightmares but she wakes up almost every night screaming, thinking he's there and he's going to hurt her. She's so frightened it's heartbreaking."
Laura's ordeal began when the boy, a family friend, got into her bedroom, locked the door and told her they were going to play mummies and daddies.
He then pinned her down on the bed, raped her and forced her to perform a sex act.
The yob said he would kill Laura, now eight, if she told anyone. As part of a plea bargain he was charged with a lesser offence of having sex with a minor instead of rape. He was let off with the £85 costs and a 12-month referral order. And because he wasn't given a suspended or jail sentence, it meant he could not be put on the sex offenders' list.
Laura's mum Helen, 35, said: "The police officer phoned me on Friday and gave me the awful news.
"Then in the next breath she asked if we would like some theme park tickets as we were entitled to them as compensation. I couldn't believe what I was hearing."
Prosecutors claimed that if they had charged the boy with rape, he would have pleaded not guilty and Laura would have had to go through the trauma of a trial.
But Helen insisted the sentence sent out the wrong message.
She added: "I believe it is only a matter of time before he does this again. Justice has not been done. Even a short prison sentence might have been enough to shock him. Laura was such a happy and bubbly little girl. But she is now withdrawn and frightened. She wets the bed and is afraid of school and other boys."
Robert said: "We were led to believe he'd still get a jail sentence despite the lesser charge."
The attack took place in September last year at the family's home in Ipswich, but Laura kept the ordeal secret until January.
Builder Robert told of the moment she finally blurted out the truth when she found out they were going to a party her attacker would be at.
He added: "She said he had been 'weird' with her. She curled up on my knee and started to talk about pregnancy. She had no idea about sex. But she started to say she thought she might be pregnant because of what he had done. She then told me what happened, how he said he was going to play mummies and daddies the 'grown-up' way.
"Tears were streaming down her little face, she looked so afraid as she said how he had pinned her arms down and taken off her clothes."
Since Laura's attack her parents have redecorated her bedroom and bought her a new bed. A dream-catcher hangs near her window to help see off the nightmares.
Her attacker, now 16, was sentenced at South East Suffolk youth court.
Laura, Robert and Helen's names have been changed to protect their IDs.
REFERRAL ORDERS
The referral order given to the 15-year-old will mean that he is required to attend youth offender meetings with social services to agree a "contract" to repair the harm caused by his crime and address the causes of his criminal behaviour.
Laura's parents were told by police that the boy could not be put on the sex offenders' register as he was given a referral order, instead of a suspended or custodial sentence.
Referral orders are part of the Government's strategy to reduce offending in young people. They are given to first-time young offenders who plead guilty, and mean teenagers are "punished" by reporting to a panel of local volunteers to address their offending behaviour.
I am so disgusted by this, I just cannot find the words.

Re: WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?
Write to your Attorney General (or whatever he is called) demanding that justice be done for this little girl.
This is a total disgrace.
That teenager should have been tried as an adult. He knew what he did was wrong, as he told the girl to keep it quiet or he would kill her. This is just not good enough.
It broke my heart when I read what the little girl said to her parents. Poor little baby. I hope that she will recover in time and doesnt let this idiot ruin her life.

Re: WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?
I have a feeling the boy was sexually abused himself. That's why he used the lines he did. I wonder if that was a mitigating factor, in addition to the fact that there's no evidence to try him other than this 7 yro's testimony. Kids, even ones telling the truth, don't do well on the stand.
ETA: there should be a bigger investigation into the boy and his background and that town or village, because I really do believe there's a history of sexual abuse.

Re: WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?
Sorry, but I cannot think of the boy in these circumstances, I have to go with what harm has been done to this 7 year old *child*.
The child would not have had to take the stand, she would have given video evidence from a family room, still giving evidence I know, but it is not nearly as traumatic as taking the stand.
Three points about this story worry me immensely.
1)... "The yob said he would kill Laura, now eight, if she told anyone. As part of a plea bargain he was charged with a lesser offence of having sex with a minor instead of rape."
By charging him as having sex with a minor, it implies that the child, a 7 year old, was complicit. Obviously she wasn't, she is a child and could not have been complicit under any circumstances.
This was the rape of a child by someone more than double her age. There should not have been any plea bargaining, this is a criminal offence and he should have been charged with rape of a minor.
The term he used that he would kill her if she told anyone, are the words of a paedophile. This 15 year old is a predatory paedophile in the making, (if he isn't already). He is not on the sex offenders register, which means that he can go anywhere, live anywhere and be free to do this all over again, what happens next time? Because there will be a next time, this young *man* has got away with rape, he knows he raped this child and he has seen the authorities label it as "sex with a minor", this has probably excused what he has done in his own mind, so yes he is definitely going to do this again.
2).. ''Daddy, do you still love me even though I'm dirty now?''
Where did a 7 year old little girl, think she was dirty? Why? it is not something a 7 year old would necessarily think, who has told her this? Was it her attacker? This is often used to make the victim feel worthless and "different" from other children, it makes them less likely to tell what happened to them. They think they are dirty and that what has happened is their fault. Which again s pointing to alarming signals about her abuser!
3).."She said he had been 'weird' with her. She curled up on my knee and started to talk about pregnancy. She had no idea about sex. But she started to say she thought she might be pregnant because of what he had done.
So the poor child, had no idea about sex, then how did she know that sex can lead to pregnancy?
Again, this points to her abuser bullying and intimidating her and making her feel scared, dirty and worthless. These are all traits of a paedophile. This is the kind of verbal abuse they use to intimidate their victims and prevent them from telling anyone what has happened to them.
I would be very surprised if this person had not already abused other children, or in fact, may have abused this child before this "rape" took place.
I do not believe this child has received the proper psychological care and if she hasn't, she will take this with her into adulthood, it can taint everything in her life and if she doesn't receive the proper care now, this could impinge on everything in her life. She is the victim, not him, this poor child is the victim.
I cannot begin to tell you how much the white hot heat of anger that welled up inside me when I read this, that poor little child. Her parents hopefully will tell her that she is STILL innocent and she is not dirty. they must work towards reassuring her that their love for her has not change, has never changed, she is still their lovely little girl, nothing is changed there and it never would.
If he has been abused then this sentence is hardly going to help him, it is just going to confirm in his own head that he has done nothing wrong.
He is 15 years old when he raped a child, he knew it was wrong.
Seeing this miscarriage of justice here, I know what I would do if that was my daughter or grandchild!

Teenage Rapist!

Re: WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?
I Read this the other day.It is appalling. If he had done something like that to my daughter i would rip his efing head off regardless of what the law says.He wouldn't be left free to walk with a smile on his stinking face after i had finished flooring him.I would do time for anyone who had so much as a thought of hurting my baby.I would kill them. And I would be proud that i had put an end to his twisted ways once and for all.And that is a promise.

Re: WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?
That rape case is nothing compared to much bigger crimes where torture and murder of little children were not punished according to the size of the crime. One out of so many is the case of Peter Connelly Peter [Baby Peter] of which you can read about it at:

You can also get information on the case at http://news.sky.com and at www.dailymail.co.uk along with pictures and videos.
