MADELIENE: NEW LEADS IN SEARCH

MISSING: Madeleine has not been seen since May 2007 Sunday September 6,2009

PRIVATE detectives looking for Madeleine McCann have returned to Portugal to pursue new leads which could provide a breakthrough in the case,.

Ex-policemen Arthur Cowley and Dave Edgar spent several days speaking to “persons of interest” to the inquiry.

“The investigation has real momentum with definite goals. A vast amount of work has already been done and every new lead is being checked,” a source said.

Meanwhile Kate and Gerry McCann’s twins, Sean and Amelie, have started school near their home in Thurmaston, Leics.

The four-year-olds have been sent to Bishop Ellis RC School – where Madeleine was enrolled before she went missing while on holiday in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in May 2007.

A message on the school’s website says: “We are sorry we are not yet able to welcome Madeleine to our school as we had hoped to.”

I was just reading this in the Express, it sounds promising, the investigators would not return to Portugal for no reason, obviously, someone has agreed to talk to them.

So let's hope and pray that this may take them closer to the breakthrough in the search for Madeleine, the search that the vile Tony Bennett wants to stop! Shame on him!

I tend to agree Rosiepops - the investigators would not return to Portugal unless there are new leads to investigate.

Thanks for that little piece of encouraging news Christabell. I am sure you are aware that I recently opened a new thread "Is Maddie still in PDL" as an addition to my main blog "New Review of Madeleines Abduction", not that I have any new leads suggesting Maddie is in PDL, it just seems to me that as all other avenues in the case seem to have 'dried up' the answer lies elsewhere. There have been millions of words printed and spoken on this subject including the views and theories of many posters bother earlier on the DE blog and now on the J4 forum. Sadly we are now no further ahead in the case than we were two years ago. There have been so many exciting build up's in the case all of which have ended up in acute disappointment, so it seemed to me the only way 'forwards' was to 'go back' returning to the roots of the investigation. On learning of Madeleines abduction my first thought was that she had been taken by Sea and this was born out by two facts, firstly that the Ocean Club is not that far away from the beach area and secondly there was a reported sighting of a child being taken towards the Marina in the early hours next day (4th May). Apart from that it seemed so obvious somehow, what better way of kidnapping a child than smuggling her onto a boat and disappearing into the night? And yet for all the world wide coverage of the case and the many unfounded sightings there has since been no actual evidence indicating that was the method used! Likewise, there have been absolutely no "confirmed" reports of Madeleines whereabouts either in Portugal, Spain, or anywhere else in the world. This then led me to think, are we (everyone) missing the obvious solution, that Madeleine could be hidden somewhere right under our (everyones) noses and in fact "Could Maddy still be in PDL" ? It sounds to me as though the investigators are now leaning in that direction by returning to Portugal, so let's all hope some fresh and more reliable evidence has come to light? I think someone in PDL knows something or somebody but is keeping quiet about it, why....?

As we are mentioning leads, I was thinking of the new efit description recently given to the McCanns private investigators and comparing it in my mind to an efit given by someone else early on in the investigation. It strikes me that these two efits strongly resemble each other, I do not know if others think the same. The first efit is officially recorded in the files, the 2nd is the one that was given by the witness who recently came forward concerning what he may have witnessed in Barcelona.

I have spliced them together to get a better feel for it.

Obviously the detectives would have already realised this, I just wondered if others have and wonder at the significance of it.

Spot on Rosie, I noticed the similarity too a little while ago. But when I checked Mr & Mrs Morgan's statements, I found out they were talking about a man (in fact two men) not a woman.

The worrying bit in Mr Morgan's statement is, he's mentioned a manhole with the cover removed. The next day the cover had been replaced (Mrs Morgan was talking about May 3rd, so I assume Mr Morgan is talking about that day/night too).

I don't think it's likely she's wandered off, but as the PJ considered that as a possibility, I wonder if they ever really checked that manhole. What Mr Morgan says contradicts btw the statements of the construction workers. They could very well have lied a little bit to protect themselves ....
