Hi, Viv and Joes. Hilarious, isn't it? Well, if Dr Almeida Rodrigues was to introduce himself to all suspects of crimes he would probably start woring around middle 2009. But tell me, is it a cultural thing in the Uk that authorities introduce themselves to main suspects of crimes? ;-)

Claudia,
It is certainly not a cultural thing in the UK or here in Ireland. If a Senior Policeman even did such a thing it would be seen as wholly inappropriate and unprofessional. If the McCanns were or had been cleared as suspects then it would be acceptable, but that is the problem with the PROS they have not come to terms with the fact that they are the prime suspects.

Hello,
Well, it certainly is not acceptable to have high ranking officers who are being investigated over extremely serious charges in relation to another missing child, heading the Madeleine McCann investigation. Goncalo Amaral should have been suspended years ago.
What about Gonc and his senior pj officers buddies, who are not only arguidos, but have been charged by a Court of Law and are now awaiting trial? The same officers who are allowed to write books about little girls missing in Portugal. The same officers that actually stand accused of beating up the mother of a missing little girl, whilst she was in their custody/care and control.
These officers have not been cleared of their charges, let alone their arguido status.
Thank Goodness this is not a cultural thing here in the UK.
It seems it is a cultural thing that arguidos introduce themselves to victims in Portugal

The McCanns
. . . may be considered suspects (which was pushed through quickly to make sure that noone actually had to show any evidence), but seeing as abduction is also a scenario being investigated, they are also victims.

Honest Joe.....
It stands to reason, when you have your head so far up your own backside , you get nothing but tunnel-vision.

I agree that the arguido statement was hurried along in order to avoid the more strict criteria that was being introduced eight days later and which would have prohibited the pj from doing so then.
The fact that they are truly victims, is overlooked by many, who only choose to focus on the listening/checking system that the parents were using and which hundreds of thousands of families have used (possibly more) for decades.
Not only are Kate & Gerry victims, but so is every member of their family, who have suffered the personal loss of dear Madeleine - not to mention loved ones, friends etc.
