For those who have not seen the latest notice/announcement on Websleuths. One of their moderators has been 'outed' as having a criminal record. Convicted of child sexual abuse. Admin on Websleuths will now be looking into the legalities of having background checks done on all their members.

You never can tell, can you. Axe murderers, p*do's, hackers etc, all part of the cyber community, slithering/moving around among us, like snakes on their bellies looking for prey. Wonder how many members on other forums will loose their membership, if background checks were to be introduced?

I think we need to be a tad cautious, Hael. The one report I read said that she'd been charged with having consenting sex with (I think) her husband in front of minors. But I don't think it said she'd been convicted. And they are no longer together.

Thank you for pointing that out. I've just gone to the legal documentation to see for myself and it does state: Lewd/lascivious in presents of child under age 16.
I suppose with the document tile - Criminal record and the word 'probation' on it, many read it as a crime of sexual abuse.
