PSP makes bracelets for children

Starting next week, the PSP will distribute free wristbands to be used by children in order to expedite their location in case of disappearance. The bracelets are intended mainly for children between two and five years. The initiative is included in the program 'I'm Here', presented yesterday in Lisbon.

At first will be available five thousand devices in command of the country then the bracelet is enabled in the program's website, where you must complete a database. Paul Bloom, a spokesman for the PSP, says that this is a proposed "pilot and unprecedented" ensures that all conditions of safety data from children and parents.

"We want to be a program to optimize procedures to meet as soon as possible the child and decrease the time to despair of the parents," he adds.

The PSP recorded between 2006 and 2010, 12,491 disappearances of children and adolescents. Yesterday, the parents of a boy of five years lived moments of despair at having lost sight of their son in Praia da Rocha, Portimão. The Maritime Police walked the beach on quad bikes, eventually finding the child half an hour later, dozens of feet from where gone. He was well and was delivered to parents.

Security strengthened in the Algarve during the summer with 300 policemen of PSP

PSP will patrol bicycle access to the bathingAbout 300 staff of the Special Police Units (EPU) will increase from July to security in the Algarve, which represents a doubling of the strengthening of media compared to last year, a source told Lusa the PSP.
Moreover, straps will be distributed to children to facilitate its location, if lost.In the case of the GNR, the posts territorial and special groups have been strengthened since the beginning of the year, and should not be done any additional reinforcement on the pretext of summer, a source told Lusa that security force.

Nevertheless, a significant part of a group of 556 newly formed provisional guards at the School of GNR should train in the Algarve during the summer which will be a strengthening of the forces stationed, said the same source.

In the case of PSP, the 300 additional staff are divided into 20 teams, 14 July to 30 September will be installed in Lagos and Portimão and are responsible for strengthening the patrolling those cities and the maintenance of public order and security, with special focus during the night.

In response sent to Lusa, the National Directorate of PSP reports that throughout this summer season will also be allocated to policing and security of tourists and holidaymakers all five teams of public intervention Corps stationed in Faro, a total of 90 policemen also integrated into the UEF.

In addition to strengthening the special forces, the District Command of Faro PSP, will also increase patrols cycle teams to the areas of Vila Real de Santo Antonio, Tavira, Olhão, Portimão, Lagos and Faro International Airport. In the city of Faro those teams already operate throughout the year.

The PSP features into such teams usually assigned to the elements of the Integrated Neighbourhood Policing and support services. The teams will favor bicycle patrols in shopping areas, access to bathing areas and historical centers / tourist.

In periods considered most critical, patrolling and surveillance at Faro airport is enhanced with the deployment of teams UEP / Operational Group Cinotécnico (man / dog) and UEP / Teams Inactivation of Explosive and Security Underground.

The Division of Airport Security is further enhanced with teams of Police Criminal Investigation Division Police of Faro, particularly geared to the fight against pickpockets and crimes of opportunity.

As justification for not strengthening purposeful for the summer, the source of the General Command of the GNR said that successive reinforcements have occurred since the beginning of the year, due to the climate of some social alarm due to the increased perception of violence in the region - which had no statistical correspondence with reality, according to the same source.

The GNR will shift more resources to areas of Albufeira, Vilamoura and Quarteira, where they become more visible military intervention forces and public order patrols cinotécnicas (man / dog) and teams patrolling on bicycles, and will improve safety conditions during the summer festivals and biker concentration of Faro.Bracelets to find lost childrenAlso during the summer, the PSP will give away five thousand bracelets for children - especially between two and five years - to facilitate and expedite their location.

This initiative is part of the "Here I am!" Presented on Thursday. The bracelets can be purchased by parents in the PSP squadrons across the country, and the activation of the request made through the website of the program

With completing a database. The spokesman for the PSP, Commissioner Paulo Flôr, explained that each bracelet "is unique", and assigned each a different number, which, despite being perceived, can only be read by the PSP through the database.

Paulo Flor ensured that only the police who work in the Center Command and Control of PSP have access to the database and is also ensured all safety conditions for the information of parents. The same source, the children cannot take the bracelet of their arms and can bear at least two weeks of beach.
In case of disappearing of the child and through a call to 112 will be referred to the mechanisms needed to communicate with the security forces and send it to the location of the child's disappearance a police patrol.

The five thousand wristbands will be distributed mainly in metropolitan areas of Lisbon, Porto and Setúbal, in addition to the tourism offices of the PSP and the Algarve close to beaches and tourist areas.

Between 2006 and 2010, the PSP recorded 12,491 cases of missing children and adolescents, the rate of recurrence of 97%. However, Paulo Flor added that in the case of children under 12 years the rate of recurrence is 99%.

Yes, Portugal has a lot to thank Kate and Gerry for.
If it wasn't for them and their fight to find Madeleine, all this corruption wouldn't have been found out.
