Can we use this thread below for general comments and just chit chat on the book and video, this is because we are trying to keep the other threads as factual and the information as easily accessible as possible. If something does get posted by accident don't worry about it, we will just come along every so often and tidy it up, so please do not be offended if you find we have moved a post, it will just be done to keep the threads as tidy as we can.

Gerry McCann Announces The Decision To Sue Goncalo Amaral

Here is the video of Gerry McCann announcing their intention to sue Goncalo Amaral and beneath it you will see a transcript of what he said.
We can all see and understand here that this action to sue Amaral was taken with reluctance, in the end Amaral left them no choice, if he has anyone to blame for his predicament, he can blame himself!

Gerry McCann: I'd like to read this statement on behalf of Kate, myself and our three children:
We're pleased with the judges decision today preventing further distribution and sale of Mr Amaral's book and DVD, 'The Truth of the Lie'.
Mr Amaral's central thesis has no evidence whatsoever to support it.
To claim, as he did, that Madeleine is dead and that we, her parents, were somehow involved in her disappearance has caused our family incredible distress and continues to do so.
Without doubt Madeleine will have suffered as a result of the negative effect this book and DVD will have had on the search for her.
Sean and Amelie need protection too, from such awful claims.
Hopefully this injunction today will go a long way towards reducing further uneccessary and unjust distress to us all and allow people to concentrate completely on what is important; finding Madeleine.

Gerry McCann: We didn't want to take action - as usual. It was a last resort.
It took us a long time to get the files translated so we knew exactly what was in them and by the time we'd... we had done that completely we were into January and we... we did take advice and, to be honest, we were advised to, errr... issue proceedings at that point.
But we didn't want to enter into an adversarial process. We want to work with the Portuguese and we will continue to work with the Portuguese authorities to try and find Madeleine.
But when we launched, errm... the documentary with the fresh appeals and we had, errr... repeated statements from Mr Amaral; and his own documentary; and the DVD; and the book, then, you know, we had to take action because, at that point, we felt that it was completely damaging the search.
We had hoped that everyone would have had the opportunity to see what was in the file and to see the Portuguese judiciary's verdict of what is in the file and they are very clear; there is no evidence that Madeleine is dead.

Thinking Of Going To Portugal For Your Holiday? Read Here For Some Pre "Holiday" Information!

On doing some research for the factual thread answering the lies in Goncalo Amaral's book, I came across this little quote from Grime tucked away:

Not only do I think that Goncalo Amaral should be investigated, I also think that Martin Grime's involvement in the making of those videos should be the subject of an inquiry in the UK, and there is nothing stopping this, no protocol of jurisdiction or anything. This is something I am going to be taking up with my MP to see what can be done about it.
I am very interested in what Martin Grime has to say about these videos, one thing they are not is scientific, they are as appalling as the man who was leading the Madeleine investigation at the time they were shot, Goncalo Amaral.
Isn't it strange how ALL roads lead back to Goncalo Amaral, where there are never any answers only lies, lies and more lies and this person has been allowed to get away with this? Well Portugal may not hold him to account, but we can and we will and by the time we have finished the Portuguese government are going to wish they held Amaral accountable in a public inquiry, that would have been the far lesser of the evils that are now going to unfold.
I am not going to let this go, a child's life depends on it, well at least two children's lives may depend on it and who knows how many other poor little ones have been taken? Who knows how many more in the future will be taken? The forgotten ones, the children who are not in the system so no one knows when they vanish? Their illegal immigrant parents too scared to report their children missing?
A very sinister picture is being revealed and it is all just under the surface, bubbling away, Portugal cannot stop this, refusing the appeal of a woman who should NOT be in prison, is like sticking a band aid over the top of an active volcano and trying to prevent it from blowing.
Portugal is NOT a safe place to take your children, if anyone reading this is thinking of taking their children to Portugal, they should give it serious thought before they book. Of course Portugal is a beautiful country and without doubt the vast majority of people are good, kind and decent, but this picture can no longer be used to portray Portugal as a family friendly place, when it certainly isn't! it is far from family friendly and its people are too terrified to speak about what they really feel about their police and governments and local politicians.
Look at the McCanns, look at what happened to them, they only went to Portugal, a country they had never visited before, for a just a week, while there, their daughter was abducted and despite a blaze of publicity and the police saying otherwise, Goncalo Amaral, the man leading the hunt to find Madeleine, all but in name halted the search for her on day 3 after she vanished! Madeleine was taken on Thursday May 3rd 2007 and Amaral stopped actively searching for her on Sunday May 6th 2007. All other gestures of the search, were just that gestures, and empty gestures at that! Madeleine McCann is still missing and Goncalo Amaral is till trying his best to stop people looking for Madeleine and is still trying his best to stop people coming forward with information that could help find Madeleine and worse than that, he is writing books and cashing in on his appalling ineptitude and incompetence and lies! He is telling lie after lie and the Portuguese judiciary and the Portuguese government are just allowing him to get away with it, why?

I believe they should write such a book in order to make people aware of the dangers they and their children may face if they choose to go on a simple holiday to Portugal.
The McCanns may have been doctors and they may have made a success out of their lives through their own hard work, but they came from ordinary working class backgrounds, they were just ordinary parents on holiday with their children and friends and then suddenly they are plunged into this nightmare from which they cannot wake up. Their child abducted and then they are blamed for killing her, despite no body and NO evidence to prove this. Despite this the former policeman (Amaral) in charge of looking for Madeleine, is sacked from the investigation and it emerges he should NEVER have been in charge of it in the first place because he was a suspect in the torture of another mother whose child disappeared, one Leonor Cipriano. Since then, Amaral has been found guilty of false reporting by turning a blind eye to torture and he has also been found guilty of perjury (lying under oath), he is still serving an 18 month suspended prison sentence (yep just 18 months suspended, for a bent corrupt cop) If this is not bad enough, Goncalo Amaral is in court this week facing libel and defamation allegations by the McCanns, who not only have to pay for and conduct their own search with NO help from the Portuguese police or government and NO help from the British government, they have to waste their precious time, trying to stop Goncalo Amaral from telling blatant lies and profiteering obscenely out of their missing daughter!
Bad eh? Well that is not the half of it concerning the controversial Goncalo Amaral who was also the named detective in the Cipriano case, he was also the detective in the Hugo case, where there was an absolutely clear case of mistaken identity and Hugo could provide upwards of 15 people that testified his presence elsewhere miles away. Amaral's laziness and inability to tell the truth, led to Hugo being charged and handed over to the Spanish authorities on a charge of attempted murder! Amaral presented an appalling grainy video as evidence to the Portuguese court, evidence that he (Amaral) should have asked to be examined by experts FAILED again to do so, it was impossible to tell who anyone was on this video, yet the Portuguese court allowed Hugo to be taken to Spain to face charges, (despite Hugo initially being told by the Portuguese police to go home and forget all about it and was then promptly arrested and charged) Hugo was so scared and so depressed, he tried to commit suicide in his cell. The Spanish courts however sorted it out and Hugo was given what amounts to absolute discharge and was acquitted of all charges and freed.
Bad? Well read on...This week Goncalo Amaral is due to stand trial on further charges of torture. Leandro Silva the partner of Leonor Cipriano maintains that Goncalo Amaral and others forced him to make a statement against his partner while torturing him and Goncalo Amaral took part in that torture.
This is the calibre of police officer you can expect in Portugal.
If you suffer a crime (or worse) be careful, you may end up being accused of that crime, arrested and made suspects on absolutely NO evidence and then suffer the indignity of the police office in charge of your case, writing lies in a book and calling it free speech and making money out of your distress.
Think on before you book your holiday in Portugal! I look forward to seeing the TRUTH being printed in the glossy holiday brochures and I look forward to the Portuguese tourist board telling the truth about the crime, the break ins and the reported sexual assaults on children, I look forward to the Portuguese tourist board telling the truth about Portugal's appalling record on human rights which Amnesty International is trying to highlight to the rest of the world.
So please give very careful consideration to holidaying in Portugal if you have young children, if you are older, then buyer beware, your choice!
The Portuguese tourist board should scrub out"Family Friendly" Portugal, the real Portugal is anything but friendly! It persecutes people, it allows torture and it allows people to be put in prison on no evidence, It vilifies people who have had their children taken. It tortures witnesses while they are in custody, it allows the torture of people just helping the police with their inquiries and it allows the brutal beatings of prisoners by prison officers. Portugal has an absolutely appalling record on human rights, women and children's rights are ignored and its police turns a blind eye to violent assaults on women in their own homes.
Think on, there are plenty of other safer places to spend your holiday euros!
One thing puzzles, why with this appalling record in human rights, was Portugal allowed to join the European Union? Or is the EU corrupt also?

- Amaral has NEVER visited the scene until he sold the rights of his book of lies to a TV company said to be for approximately 500.000 euros, then he led a totally biased reconstruction, standing in front of the apartment like he had been there before, when in fact he had NEVER been there before, it was well over a year later he made this first visit and that wasn't a bid to discover what happened to Madeleine, this was to make himself a pile of money by using Madeleine's disappearance and blaming her parents!
- To this very day Goncalo Amaral, who professes to know so much about Kate and Gerry McCann has NEVER, not once met them or spoken to them. (How odd is this in the world's most famous hunt for an abducted child?)
- Goncalo Amaral invoked a strict secrecy law and inflicted this upon the parents, he need NOT have done this.
- Goncalo Amaral talks about the "English Gag" (his new book, even now he is still trying to cash in on Madeleine's name)
- Goncalo Amaral talks the talk about "Free Speech", when it was he that in fact GAGGED Kate and Gerry McCann, while he (Amaral) leaked the most appalling lies and smears and totally bizarre theories to the Portuguese press, after rendering them helpless and unable to defend themselves against his evil attacks on their reputations and good characters.

Leonor Cipriano Tortured with the knowledge of former Portuguese police chief, Goncalo Amaral, the disgraced former detective in charge of the Madeleine McCann investigation.
This week Amaral faces a further trial accused of torturing Leandro Silva, Leonor's partner.
The world is watching Portugal! The right verdict must be reached! NO cover ups if Portugal is to begin to regain credibility!
