KATE and Gerry McCann plan to take their twin son and daughter back to Praia da Luz - the last place the tots saw their missing sister Madeleine.
Sean and Amelie, now four, have told their devastated parents they would like to return to the resort where Maddie vanished in May 2007.
The McCanns' Portuguese lawyer Isabel Duarte said yesterday: "The twins would very much like to come to Praia da Luz but not at this time"Anguish ... at church in 2007
She said Sean and Amelie - 18 months old when their sister was snatched from the bedroom where they were all sleeping - had helped Kate through her traumas.
The lawyer spoke after Kate cancelled plans to go back to the holiday apartment where she last saw Maddie.
It is understood she felt unable to face the emotional ordeal. The McCanns, both 41, arrived in Praia last Friday. It was the first time Kate had returned to the place where she says she feels closest to her missing daughter.
Hunt ... missing Maddie
The anguished mother did go back to the tiny Nossa Senhora da Luz church where she prayed every day after Madeleine vanished shortly before her fourth birthday.
Kate wept openly during a service on Saturday night. She and Gerry held hands as a single candle lit a photo of Maddie.
The picture was on a red paper heart background beneath a statue of the Virgin Mary.
Priest Father Jose Pacheco, who comforted the McCanns after Maddie was snatched, said prayers for "all the missing children in the world, especially Madeleine".
The McCanns, both doctors, of Rothley, Leics, had visited the church early that morning and later walked on the nearby beach.
The couple visited Praia after their libel case against former police chief Goncalo Amaral was postponed in Lisbon.
Lawyer Isabel said Kate was "a broken woman".She added: "As a mother myself I cannot comprehend what she is going through."
Kate and Gerry flew back to the UK yesterday.
