Madeleine sptted twice on tram in brussels.One sighting says she looked drugged/Daily Mail

A young girl who looked 'very much' like Madeleine McCann was spotted in Brussels in the days after she vanished, it has emerged.

The possible sighting follows the emergence of Scotland Yard intelligence suggesting Madeleine was snatched to order for a paedophile gang operating in Belgium.

The Belgian connection is contained in a 30,000-page Portuguese police file made public this week.

Line Compere, 31, told local police she saw the blonde-haired, blue-eyed child on the number 18 tram heading towards the main Midi railway station in Brussels at about 8.45am on May 15 last year.

Madeleine disappeared from her parents' holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in the Algarve 12 days earlier.

Ms Compere's suspicions were raised because the man and woman with the little girl did not look like her, appeared to be speaking a different language from her and did not seem to know her well.

She said today: 'I made the sighting on a tram. We were on the Number 18 tram from Porte d'Anderlecht going towards the Gare du Midi. They got off and then got on to the number 51 tram.

'She really looked like Madeleine, but her hair was different. In the photos I saw of Madeleine, she had a fringe, but this girl did not. She was dressed all in pink and was in a pushchair.

'I was standing close to her and saw her eyes - they were blue. But I did not notice any marking on her eye.

'She was with a man and a woman, both between 35 and 40 years old. They were white but had dark hair and looked Eastern European.

'They were both dressed in dark clothes. The girl looked very different to the adults.'

She added: 'I was interviewed once by Belgian police who launched an inquiry, and I gave them all the details I knew.'

At the time she saw the group, she had never seen a picture of Madeleine but later that day was shown a photograph and realised the likeness.

She told police on June 1 last year: 'When I saw the photo, it immediately jumped out to me that there was a big resemblance to the little girl on the tram.'

The report was passed on to the Portuguese police but it is unclear what action was taken to follow it up.

There was a second sighting in Belgium later in May, this time a Briton who saw a child asleep on a train from Brussels to Antwerp who believed she had been drugged.

According to the files, she was with a balding white man aged about 40 and wearing sports clothes. He got off the train at Mechelen at around 9.20pm carrying the child.

Leicestershire Police made a formal request through Interpol for the relevant train stations and surrounding areas to be checked for CCTV footage.

With the two sightings and the emergence of an email by Scotland Yard to Portuguese police about a tip-off Madeleine was snatched for a Belgian paedophile ring, the link to Belgium appeared to be strengthening this week.

The latest new sightings emerged after two others reports of Madeleine being seen in neighbouring Holland.

Anna Stam, a shopkeeper, told police she saw a girl come into her party shop who claimed her name was Maddie and said 'they took me from my holiday'.

Her account was followed by another by Hannie Wiechmann who saw a girl who looked like Madeleine at around the same time.

A friend of Kate and Gerry McCann, both 40, from Rothley, Leicestershire, said the couple’s private detectives were taking the possible involvement of Belgian paedophiles very seriously.

This is not the first time Belgium has cropped up in the search for Madeleine - police investigated a sighting of a girl who looked like the missing child on the border with Holland last August.

A child therapist spotted a young blonde girl at a service station near the town of
Tongeren but the sighting was later discounted.

So I'm just back from a short holiday, and arrive home to the news of this potential link to a ring of pigs who have possibly taken her. Oddly enough, while on holiday, I thought a lot about Madeleine and her whereabouts....just not quite able to accept that this is never going to be resolved.
These reports are suggesting that someone close to Luz took a photo of the young Madeleine, and sent that photo back to Belgium to have it approved as to whether or not she was what these creeps were looking for. Someone close to Luz.....someone close to Luz.............hmmmmmmm. Someone close to Luz took a digital photo of this girl, sent it (likely via email ) back to Belgium.
SOMEONE CLOSE TO LUZ? OR SOMEONE CLOSE TO THE PJ, WHO HAVE SO CAREFULLY and craftilly messed THIS INVESTIGATION UP FROM THE START????! Not to mention the fact that they quickly turned on the Mcann's in an effort to divert the attention?

Hello!!!Hope you had a nice holiday???Nice to see you back on form again.I agree with you.Something that gives me a sickening feeling is how they describe a picture was taken and sent to Belgium ...a receiver approved that the child is 'suitable' for their ring and she was taken.How can they say a child is suitable for this kind of stuff. It really drives nails through me,makes my stomach turn over it does, and I feel like I wanna rip their blood supplies off.
IMO,Anyone who finds a child 'suitable' to be abused is in my eyes someone who needs to be hung slowly and painfully. If I was in charge of punishing these people I would ram a brolly up their backsides and open it up, let them know how it feels to be subjected to such a ordeal.

I heared on tv someone saying that therapists who try to help these so called humans (help them!!!)are wondering weather continually showing them footage of this abuse going on would actually enable them to see how bad it is.They think that its only when these people get the urge to abuse that they see no wrong in the matter...and by forcing them to watch it when they don't get the urge to abuse might make the realise how bad their habit actually is.
IMO .....that therapist is as deluded as the abusers themselves.
IMO these therapist should put all their energy into helping their victims not trying to work out what the hell is going on in their sick minds.Lock them all bloody up.
Another thing that annoys me is when the say they have a sickness...they don't have a sickness at all...if they were in hospital ill then they would have a sickness...when they take it upon themselves to hurt another person they are deluded and need to be isolated from the rest of the world.NOT HELPED.

Just to add to what you've written Claire Sw, I wonder if you guys are aware that there is NO such thing as reforming pedophiles. Recidivist rates which basically track the number of times that offenders re-offend are clear- this problem will not go away. These people continue to re-offend, and will do so until the day they die. Any therapist that suggests that there is a chance for them to live like the rest of us is full of s*it.

These stats by the way are international....in Britain, in North America, Europe, etc. There is no chance that they will ever NOT want to be with children, as disgusting as that is to even type the words. There is nothing left to do.....they need to be locked up for life. Simple as that. So why then do the courts not see this? Why is it that these pedophiles, and indeed the creep that likely orchestrated the taking of Madeleine, have probably already been through the system? They are known to the legal system- but the problem is that the system fails us every day when they give these bas*ards a slap on the wrist and let them walk free after being found with child porn on their computers, or molesting young children.

I recently saw Bill OReilly going off his rocker about one of the US states that believes they are 'healing' the paedophiles. And it turns out that their soft laws are making the state a haven for paedophiles, and they are flocking there from other states. And the incidence of child abuse has risen in that state.

Stupid demented idiots in that State govt. I cant remember the state, but I suspect you already know which one it is.

I agree that paedophiles do not change their habits. However, I know of a man (who was quite a good friend to me) who has a conviction for child abuse against his 15 yo stepdaughter. He says he never touched her. And I believe him, as does his family. The allegations were made as part of a divorce fight, and he didnt contest it, as he didnt want to damage the girl by making her repeat the allegations in court, and if she was found to be lying, it would have caused a terrible effect. The judge must have had his doubts about the allegations because my friends was give a suspended sentence of 2 years. My friend's brother said that if he had pleaded not guilty, instead of no contest, then he would have got off easily but it would have caused terrible problems for the girl (as her friends would have known, some things cannot be kept secret). So before we lock up all paedophiles for the rest of their lives, we need to make sure they are really guilty. The wife got everything and my friend got a suspended sentence, but at least she didnt get his armed forces pension.

But I do agree with you about the paedophile who do things like rape babies and little children. They need to be put away for aalong time and never be allowed to have free access to society again. Always supervised and if near any children, then lock them up again. The children deserve no less than to be protected from these sick b*****ds. Children's safety should always come first before the rights of criminals who would harm those children.

Guys, do you recall quite some time ago when some freak from Holland sent a letter into the PJ suggesting that he knew where Madeleine's body was hidden? There's a copy of the letter apparently in the files that were handed over to the Mcann's. Anyways, is it possible that this guy from Holland actually was involved, and truly does have information pertinent to this investigation? I'm just thinking that if Belgium is the hot spot for where most of these sitings have occurred, there's a good chance she has been in Holland as well.
Also, has anyone come across a blogger that called himself C. From Glasgow? This creep was an ANTI to the biggest degree and he mostly blogged on the Newsdesk Special site which has since closed down. Anyways, I had it out a million times over, and his final words to me were that I was being naive, and that the 'key to finding Madeleine lies in cinema's in the Moroccan highlands'. I was like...what the f? So I reported him to Newsdesk, as well as to Motedo 3. They said they were checking him out. Anyways, he was a nutter if I ever met one....I wonder if you guys have come across him at all?

I learned in Sky that these were the first family McCann holidays as a family, that is, first Madeleine holidays away from home, far far away from home, so far away that she had to go on a plane to get there. I think she was thrilled, over the moon.

This, to me, gives all meaning and credibility to the dutch sighting: 'They took me from my holiday'.

That is a very good point. And I look at it like this, if a little girl was taken home from holiday with her parents, why would she say 'They took me from my holidays'.

But I have to say that with a little girl the same age now, as Madeleine was when she was abducted, you never know what they will say. My daughter announces to Nana, that Mummy can go to the shop and she can stay home by herself and look after her little brother. Nana said, But Mummy doesnt leave you by yourself, and of course little daughter said, Yes Nanna, she does. Which I have never done, not even once, never. I couldnt understand it and Nana was asking me lots of questions but she knew I never leave them,but when I questioned little daughter, she talked about when she woke up and I and her Daddy werent there. And It thought what in the hell is she talking about. And it turns out it was when she was in hospital in April, and when she woke up in recovery, and I wasnt there. So I had left her alone. And that was it. But to an outsider, it would appear that I regularly left her home while I went out.

So although what you say does make a lot of sense, sometimes little children dont make any sense with what they say.
