New PGR "has deep knowledge of the MP" Empty Re: New PGR "has deep knowledge of the MP"

My friends, this was taken from Correio da Manhã newspaper:

Investigation: First 'hot potato' in the hands of the new PGR

DCIAP under suspiction in starting the mandate

The Superior Council of the Public Ministry is studying a proposal from one of its members to conduct an inspection at the Central Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution (DCIAP), headed by Assistant Attorney General Candida Almeida. The CM found that the magistrate António Andrade Romao, board member put forward the proposal at the last meeting, held for 15 days, generating a debate with some controversy, centered on the analysis of the difference between making an inquiry and an administrative inspection.

Among the board members with whom the CM said, some people think that the discussion will end an inspection of the department and the magistrates, included in the annual plan of inspections prosecutors. Other milder versions point to the need to begin by discussing the technical and human resources department to put an end to the idea that the investigations do not walk due to a chronic lack of resources.

In practice, this will be the first dossier difficult for the new Attorney General of the Republic, Joana Marques Vidal, who will be sworn in next Friday. The DCIAP is a department that reports directly to the PGR and this is also what has the council convened. The discussion on this investigation in DCIAP was interrupted at the last meeting and will carry over to the next session, yet to score, where the proposal advanced by the magistrate Andrade Romao will be presented in writing.

The challenge to DCIAP and Candida Almeida is already an old question in prosecution. Last year, a meeting of union delegates approved a motion presented by the management of the union, then headed by Magistrate John Palma, in order to carry out an inspection to DCIAP. The war that Pinto Monteiro, outgoing attorney general, continued with the union eventually derail the inspection. Now, when you increase the volume of voices asking for changes in that department, the issue might be revived. "The question was not well placed in the last session of the council, but hardly fail to end an inspection of the DCIAP," said the CM element of the body.

The CM could not contact Candida Almeida, who is in Cape Verde to attend an international conference on justice. This ends the magistrate in DCIAP service commission in February next year. The department is DCIAP prosecutors with greater powers to Nationwide, which can investigate more complex cases. She is responsible for the 'Operation Hurricane' and other difficult cases.

MP WELCOMES APPOINTMENT RECEIVED

The choice of Joana Marques Vidal for Attorney General of the Republic was received with satisfaction by the prosecutor. Beyond the reactions of the Union of Prosecutors and other sectors this judiciary, the justice minister said yesterday that this appointment could "usher in a new era in the prosecutors." Paula Teixeira da Cruz told SIC waiting to see the finished "environment twitching between political and judicial" and praised the qualities of Joana Marques Vidal.

An influential assistant attorney general told to CM that prosecutors must unite around the new PGR. "We have to be cohesive, disciplined and supportive and help her play a good term," the same source said, noting that six years are crucial to the prosecution. Among the members of the Superior Council of Magistrates who are MP, reigns the idea that this is a "historic opportunity" to show that the MP is not ungovernable, failing which the future can draw up solutions very complicated.
