A PJ suspeita de uma "armadilha" ao árbitro assistente José Cardinal. As autoridades suspeitam que terá sido um funcionário de Paulo Pereira Cristóvão a depositar dois mil euros na conta do árbitro assistente José Cardinal, numa operação realizada na ilha da Madeira.

Também o escritório do dirigente na sede do Sporting foi passado a pente fino pelos inspectores da Unidade Nacional de Combate à Corrupção da Polícia Judiciária.

Na sequência de uma denúncia feita pelo clube de Alvalade, José Cardinal acabou por não comparecer no Sporting-Marítimo a contar para a Taça de Portugal, que os leões venceram por 3-0.

Inspectores da PJ estiveram hoje de manhã na sede do Sporting. Casa e firma do vice Paulo Pereira Cristóvão também foram alvo de buscas. Judiciária suspeita de "armadilha" ao árbitro José Cardinal.

A Polícia Judiciária está a fazer uma série de buscas relacionadas com o chamado "caso Cardinal", revelado pelo DN nos últimos dias. Os inspectores estiveram, esta manhã, em Alvalade a fazer buscas na SAD do Sporting. A casa e a empresa do vice-presidente Paulo Pereira Cristóvão foram outro dos alvos da Judiciária.

De acordo com informações recolhidas pelo DN, as investigações da Judiciária ao depósito de dois mil euros na conta do árbitro assistente José Cardinal, dias antes do jogo dos quartos de final da Taça de Portugal entre Sporting e Marítimo (em Dezembro de 2011), levaram os investigadores até Alvalade e ao vice-presidente Paulo Pereira Cristóvão, recorde-se, antigo inspector da PJ.

Os inspectores da PJ suspeitam que Paulo Pereira Cristóvão terá concebido uma "armadilha" ao árbitro assistente. Para isso, uma pessoa com ligações profissionais à sua empresa, a Primus-Lex, terá ido à Madeira e efectuado o depósito na conta de José Cardinal.

So what were they trying to do? Blackmail the Referee Joseph Cardinal into corrupting the game by putting money into his bank account and threatening to report him if he didn't do what they said? That's what it sounds like to me.

None of this appalling carry on with The Ciprianos or Michael Cook could have happened without assistance from these people, whoever they are. They are the ones who accepted false evidence without question. They are the ones who tried to and sometimes succeeded in Perverting the Course of Justice during Appeals when brave men tried to question what was going on.
And it takes brave men to fight against that sort of opposition.

Leonor Cipriano is still in Prison, and will have to wait a long time for her case to come before The United Nations.

Sporting accepts suspension of office of Pereira Cristóvão
