Re: Jacinta Rees murdered covered up by Portugal police
But in general, the police work in a lot of cases seems based on stupid beliefs, anecdotes, and misogyny.
Not only the police, other 'layers' of the justice system use these 'approaches' as well.
One should be coherent.

Sigh.
What does the younger generation think, Maria? Do they buy into the system? I know I've read a couple of articles from the Bar Association and various lawyers criticizing the system...

Re: Jacinta Rees murdered covered up by Portugal police
I know I am being picky but......if you have been involved in a car accident - and been hospitalised as a result - then how come you have the time and the foresight to place lit candles around your stationary car, which BTW I do agree does sound like it was intended as emergency lighting (instead of the obligatory accident cones which she may not have been carrying.)
I am confused by it all. Was she alone in the vehicle? We know so little about all of this. Speculation yet again.

Call to review model murder
Call to review model murder
From: Sunday Herald Sun December 05, 2010 12:00AM
Liam Houlihan
Jacinta Rees was hacked to death with an axe in Portugal two years ago.
THE family of murdered Melbourne woman Jacinta Rees wants the Federal Government to review her case now that suicide claims have been ruled out.
The Rees family met in Melbourne during the week with members of the Coroner's office, the Australian Federal Police, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Victoria Police.
The dead woman's younger brother, Cam Rees, said in the meeting the coronial pathologist said there was "no possible way" her fatal injuries were self-inflicted.
A former international model and fashion executive, Ms Rees was hacked to death with an axe at her cottage in the Algarve, in southern Portugal, two years ago.
Portuguese authorities had stated the fatal injuries were self-inflicted, so Ms Rees's death was not investigated as a murder.
But Mr Rees said a translation of the Portuguese autopsy found the wounds were "highly difficult to attribute to the self or to the individual".
Two autopsies have also found the dead woman had several defensive wounds.
The AFP review of the case that the family is seeking would require the Australian Government to get approval from Portugal.
"(Murdered backpacker) Britt Lapthorne had a federal police review. The precedent is there," Mr Rees said.
He said he was "gutted" by how DFAT had handled the case.
"What we set out to find out is what happened to Jacinta," he said.
"Along the way they've muddied the waters.
"We want to find out the truth of what happened to Jacinta."
The AFP was previously criticised for their handling of the Britt Lapthorne investigation.
"We have had to do this investigation ourselves. Jacinta matters," Mr Rees said.

I hope her family take this all the way. It's hard (but not impossible) for the PJ to explain this one away surely!!

What a mess and a muddle it has been for these poor poor people. But they donĀ“t sound like they will just give up. There is sooo much more to this whole murky business.
