Paedophiles everywhere must be rejoicing in this news, one of the greatest threats to their online "activities" has been removed and the only people to think this is a good thing are people like Joana Morais and all the usual suspects, who count paedophiles among their following!

Diane, as the politics of this insane government is now encroaching on this subject and just about every other aspect of life in the UK, I deem it appropriate to mention it. Look at my original post, I was not really inviting political discussion, I replied to another comment. I gave a post as to what people are doing to counteract what this government are doing to the UK, (CEOPs included) Jim Gamble resigning, is directly linked to the Madeline case. I am an administrator of this forum, if I think it has a place then it does. Anyway it woke a few people up. .

Statement 5th October 2010
We were told last night of the resignation of Jim Gamble from the Child Exploitation and On Line Protection Unit (CEOP). We are certain that he will be a huge loss to the field of child protection. Knowing how committed Mr Gamble is to this cause, it is extremely saddening that he feels unable to continue to lead CEOP which appears to be as a consequence of the proposed Governmental changes.

The search for our daughter Madeleine has been greatly enhanced by the work carried out by the team at CEOP. We would like to thank Mr Gamble for all of his efforts, both for Madeleine and for all missing and exploited children.

In this challenging economic climate, we urge the Government to remember the value of our children and the importance of the invaluable work which is necessary to protect children against the devastating crimes of child abduction and exploitation.

Rosie this radical proposal to merge CEOPS with a new Cross Border organised Crime Agency actually appears to me to make a great deal of sense. Isn´t it high time we countered the present frustrations of border restrictions inherent within organised crime, (which does include the abduction of children throughout Europe,) head on and more realistically?
I am reserving judgement on this decision until we learn more about it. I also do not believe it will necessarily lessen the efficiency of the CEOPS Agency. Jim Gamble may be a fine man and a personal friend of Kate and Gerry´s but I am always wary of making judgements about people without being party to all the facts of this case and the reasons behind Gamble´s resignation.

As for Politics...well Rosie I know you to be an impassioned and political being but I tend to agree with others here that this Forum doesn´t need diatribe or political hectoring. Let off steam by all means Rosie, yeah, you of all people are entitled........but from this corner well......it looks a trifle like ranting. I like to be "woken up" with a smile and a cuppa myself! Makes me more amenable anyway!

I happen to agree with Jim Gamble, who no doubt would not have resigned if he thought it "made a great deal of sense", I mean why would he? I also take my lead from him as he is better placed than you or I to know the finer points. I find the writing off of him and his work for children astonishing.

Regarding the politics, if you regard details as a rant then yes I suppose it is, however, like the TV, if you do not like it, then do not read it. Try the daily Mail where Tory life is wonderful all the time) I'll not keep quiet when the poor are being attacked and made to pay for bankers bonuses and children are having their schools buildings cancelled in a bid to save £1 b for every £2b spent and pretty soon we will all be forced to pay for expensive health care insurance from the same companies now vying to buy lucrative parts of the NHS, the same companies that donated millions of pounds to the Conservative party, making this Tory party the richest political party in this country's history. The fact that I actually know what I am talking about is called a rant, am I bothered? No, not in the slightest, as ever I will just try and stick to the truth without the personal attacks. (No one was even mentioned let alone hectored, so hectoring? I think not)
I have spent endless time on this forum maintaining it, endless time worrying myself sick about it and endless time learning about it and backing it up so it is actually here whenever people feel they want to drop in and if I consider something worth saying then I will say it and I do not say it to win a popularity contest, I say it because I passionately believe it and I care, if that is a rant, then it is a rant.
I wonder if this was a labour government that had introduced this, there would have been more said. I suppose also that Kate and Gerry are wrong about CEOP too?

“We have long been aware of the magnificent specialised work done by CEOP in protecting children from sexual exploitation, making the internet a safer environment for children, combating child trafficking, and tracking down missing paedophiles. Why shouldn't you have your say? You are entitled to it. If it wasn't for you, this forum would not exist and your passion for what you believe in is a credit to you, and I for one couldn't agree more with what you posted here.

Let's hope so Chris, please God let it be so. Hopefully Keith Vaz and the rest of the committee will try and broker a deal and Mr Gamble can stay in his post, doing what he and his team do best, protect children. There is an incredible amount of pressure being put on the government behind the scenes over this and this committee is a good start. I am praying for a positive outcome for the sake of all these children, some of this things I have heard this past week have been so shocking that I could not and would not even write them on here, but to say they disturbed me is an understatement. Jim Gamble and the team have my utmost respect and admiration for what they do, I know I could not do it.
