In view of newly emerging evidence about the former detective sacked from the Madeleine McCann investigation, I thought we may start a new thread for questions.

As far as possible (I know they can overlap), but can we try and keep ONE question per post please?

Thought making a clear record of the questions that Amaral *MUST* answer. I was wondering if we could treat this thread a bit like a whiteboard and try and go right back to the beginning, when Goncalo Amaral got the call to inform him a child had gone missing on his patch in Praia da Luz, a little pre-school foreign national child.

I'll kick off...........

You were out at a restaurant eating dinner with "friends" you had a call about an English couple in deep distress, their daughter had vanished, the whole of PDL (except for Robert Murat) was out searching for her Why did you *NOT* attend the scene?

2. How long after you knew that Madeleine had disappeared did you initially decide this was a case of a child wandering off and then instruct your men to go home and return the next morning if needed?

3. Why did you prefer accused an innocent couple, make them arguidos, without no evidence to prove it?

4. Why did you decide to launched smears, lies, to damage the couple´s reputation, to try to divert attention from the abduction, which was what really happened, to a theory (written in your book of lies) without evidence to support your theory?

7. Why did you hide behind the Judicial Secrecy law when there are 2 exceptions to this law which applied in the case of Madeleine ?

8. Why did you wait until the next day before you alerted the Spanish border controls ?

9 . Why did you allow for the apartment to be rented to some other people BEFORE it was exhaustively examined?

10 . Why didn't you get interested in the Smith family's statements and did not ask them to participate in making a photofit straight away when they approached the police the very first time, end May/2007? Don't you think that it is biased to get interested just in the statement of ONE member of this family only when, against the other members' opinion, he comes back much later stating that 'the man' looked like Madeleine's father based on his 'mannerism'?

12. How do you explain that in a car rented 25 days after the abduction, how do you explain the traces of "evidences" that pointed that a body was carried in the boot of the Renault, when long before the abduction, that car was not rented by the couple?

13. Why did you remove the posters from the Scenic, before forensics were finished on the car, also why was the car moved numerous times.

14. Why did you NEVER once speak to the McCann's.

15. Why did you leave them to investigate by themselves, while you sat stuffing your horrible face and boozing.

16. Has the window's handle in Madeleine's bedroom been checked for digital impressions? If yes and there weren't any, how was that window closed after Kate McCann 'opened it' by applying her full hand on the glass? Was it unlocked all the time (the lock is on the handle)? Who closed it and how, as it was closed when GNR? PJ? arrived there?

And if no, why not?

17 . Why didn't you take Tasmine Sillence's testimony seriously? She said that she can recognise the man both personally and photographically, and create a photofit
(from the files)

Why didn't you order an imediate photofit to be made and publicised? The fact that the pictures that she was shown did not include the man she saw is enough reason to discard her statement?

21. Why didn´t you get in touch with all the police forces throughout Algarve? You could have sent them all the info about the little girl by phone or email or also by fax.

22. Why didn´t you alert immediately the Service Emigration (airports, borders, ports, marinas, airstrips and others), with all the information about the little girl?

23....Why didn't you immediately set up an incident room at the Ocean and stop everyone from leaving the complex *INCLUDING* all of the staff?

24....Why didn't you order the search of ALL the apartments in the complex, both occupied AND unoccupied? Have all of the apartments been searched now?

25....Why didn't you take DNA samples from everyone staying at the ocean at the time of Madeleine's disappearance *INCLUDING* all of the staff?

26....Did you thoroughly investigate the distinct possibility that there was more than one key to the apartment in circulation? Did you investigate who had access to the keys and for how long and why?

27.... Did you have the existing keys forensically examined to ascertain if any of them had been copied recently? (This is easily identified)

29....Did you order a finger tip search, of the road where Jane Tanner saw the abductor crossing the road with what looked like a child in his or her arms?

30....Did you do a fingertip search of the road where Gerry and Jes were standing talking?

32....How many witnesses came forward with information to say they say saw people lurking outside apartment 5a in the weeks leading up to Madeleine's abduction?

33....Were ALL of these leads followed up? If not why not?

34....How many people offered to give photo and e-fit descriptions, but were *NOT* taken up on their offer?

35....Why did you ignore so many eye witness accounts (upwards of 7) that swear they saw Robert Murat outside apartment 5a on the night Madeleine was abducted?
