Maddie police were no Poirots, mock their OWN prosecutors
By Daily Mail Reporter Last updated at 11:36 AM on 05th August 2008
The Portuguese police inquiry into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann was condemned in the strongest terms by the country's public prosecutors, new documents revealed today.
Detectives were criticised for establishing 'no element of proof' about what happened to Madeleine or even whether she was alive or dead.
Public prosecutors in Portimao overseeing the case said that none of the reasons her parents Gerry and Kate McCann were made official suspects, or 'arguidos', were ever 'confirmed or consolidated'.
Detectives were even compared unfavourably with fictional sleuths Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot as they were lambasted for achieving 'very little in terms of conclusive results'.

We'll have many more like this. Only yesterday I called Calcite's attention (in another thread) to the advised decision of our PGR to put 2 adjoin Prosecutors from start to help 'restraining' the investigation team.

How refreshing it is to see posts from a Portugues poster who is willing to admit the PJ were wrong. I am sure you reflect the views of the average Portuguese person....and Claudia and co are just misfits in your country....along with the likes on Amaral.

Very unfortunate comparison! Holmes and Poirot were detectives indeed BUT NOT FROM THE POLICE!!! The police ones, in Holmes and Poirot times, were very similar to PJ's!

I have previously question what was given to prosecutors
And this comment
confirms what I thought. The prosecutors were given promises and nothing concrete to go on. So effectively, the PJ were allowed to go on fishing trips, which got no where, and then no more fishing trips were allowed.
I hope that a judicial review is done to determine just how much crap was put forward to the prosecutors, and in particular, was anything put forward that was known by the PJ to be untrue.
