A GIRL resembling missing Madeleine McCann was seen being taken aboard the yacht of a wealthy Arab family, police in Malta have been told.

The island’s overstretched force was last night desperately trying to trace the boat.

Several people contacted police to report the sighting. Some were so convinced the girl was Madel­eine that they tried to approach the Arab family but were blocked from getting near the yacht by security guards.

All ports in the region are being monitored and Malta’s special forces have been sent to the area.

The total number of reported sightings of Madeleine in Malta has reached 29 since she disappeared on May 3 from the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz while on holiday with her family.

Last night a Portuguese official said: “It is a distinct possibility that Madeleine has been held captive on a vessel like the one seen in Malta so we are very keen to track this boat very quickly”. A charity telethon broadcast in Malta on Sun­day was dominated by Madel­eine, with the island’s 1992 Euro­vision song contest entry Mary Spiteri dedicating her song Little Child to the missing girl.

Today a Spanish investigator who claims to know Madeleine’s kidnapper is set to hand over his evidence to police.

Antonio Toscano says he is certain the four-year-old was snatched by a French sex offender on the orders of the wealthy kingpins of a Europe-wide paedophile network.

Toscano’s claims first came to light three weeks ago but have so far prompted a lukewarm response from the Portuguese authorities, who want him to provide evidence to support his allegations.

Television investigator Toscano, whose story was published in Spain’s respected daily El Mundo, also works as a private eye specialising in missing children cases.

Last week he emailed the Portuguese police with the full name and a picture of the French paedophile.

He said Portuguese and Spanish police are working on tracking down the mystery man, a convicted paedophile said to use the alias “The Frenchman”.

Toscano added that he has also passed on the names and photographs of the paedophile’s associates, who are known to be at large after serving jail sentences for child sex offences.

The 36-year-old investigator insists he is “100 per cent certain” the Frenchman snatched Madel­eine. He claims the Frenchman told an informant of his that he was going to the Algarve to visit friends – only to vanish after the girl disappeared from the McCann family’s apartment.

Toscano said: “I’m not willing to make any of the names public yet. The police need time to work on the information I’ve given them. But I hope in due course they will make both the names and pictures public as part of an appeal for information on their whereabouts.”

He added: “Every other lead has fallen down. The police are now working on the first piece of credible information they’ve had since Madeleine went missing.”

The investigator, who has solved 14 missing children cases, claims to have met the mystery Frenchman twice while investigating paedophile cases. He has offered anguished parents Kate and Gerry McCann his services for free.

A spokesman for the family acknowledged con­tact with Toscano but said he declined to provide a name for the
suspect at every stage.

I remember reading about that yacht being spotted in malta...apparently she was spotted by more than one person with an Arab guy being ushered onto the yacht...some of the people who were there chased him yelling out etc to him and asking people to stop him but he got onto the yacht and left.They were only able to chase him so far as the security stopped them chasing him down the wooden walkway towards his yacht. Apparently he couldnt understand them all shouting and telling him what they had saw so the Arab was able to get away.
Of course this might not be a real sighting but it sure as hell sent shivers down my spine.
Another things thats sent shivers down my spine the last few days is merlins readings.A couple of days ago he talked about seeing madeleine on an island and being taken from a boat by a guy onto a WOODEN walkway(same maybe as mentioned above?)he also talked about 2 other guys turning up in a helicopter dressed in suits and carrying briefcases shaking hands with her abductors. He says the people who held her on an island reached by a boat, were her carers until she was sent on again.

Today he talks about Malta and says how he believes the sighting by a guy who spotted her being dragged through a street quickly was true.Apparently the guy saw what he thinks was madeleine.He said she was holding hands with an Arab guy and tripped over...as she tripped the Arab said (in broken english).."get up little girl" it appeared the child was wearing a big black wig which was too big for her head.

29 sightings in malta alone???surly one of those if not more as to be her?? This Arab guy and his yacht keeps popping up all the time with merlin and with many witnesses saying they have seen her with an Arab being dragged onto a yacht it makes you wonder how true it is.The day she was spotted being taken onto the boat was the day not one..not two...but many other separate tourists spotted her and all ran calling out for the Arab to stop.Now im not being funny but for ll those people to do the same thing...there must have been a pretty bl##dy good reason for them to do it.

Poor child must have been terrified running along side an Arab being told to 'get up little girl'....it makes my skin crawl.

I know our good old lord is a pretty busy guy listening to all those people out there preying like mad. But for once I wish he would just take a special moment and put everything aside just to listen to people preying for madeleine and other missing children and save these little ones from any hurt they are enduring......lead cops to them.... and help reunite them with their family.

His name is Bernard Alapetite. He denies being in Portugal and says he hadnt been there for years. I think he can be ruled out. I dont know that anything written by Mr Toscano concerning Madeleine has any foundation in fact. There are a number of articles on the internet accusing him of being wrong, amongst other things that I wont go into now. But mainly why i dont think he is involved is that he would surely have been investigated by now, by McCann detectives. The accusations against him were very public.

Here is picture of him. Looks nothing like JT's description. But doesnt mean anything, as if involved in a paedophile ring, as the accusations claim, then an associate may be the abductor. OR he has nothing to do with it a all.

thanks for posting the picture here.I think ive seen this guys pic before actually.I don't think he was the one to take her either...but ive always wondered what this toscano bloke as to say?? He as supposedly successfully saved 14 children in the past.The only thing that bothers me is this.......if he is so adamant this guy was involved then being a detective..or ex detective surly he would feel the need to disclose info to the right people..or even follow it up himself??Not sure but if i thought i knew where madeleine was...I would report it...and if for any reason no one listened to me I would go bl##dy get her myself.

That also the reason that sometimes I find psychics difficult to follow.I find it terribly frustrating when they disclose the whereabouts of madeleine....But fail to go get her????

Kind of like these people who tell you that if you pay them money they will give you the lucky lottery numbers this week!!!Hmmmmmm yer right ,and if I knew the numbers im sure I wouldn't be putting them on myself hey!!!

bernard applique did say he had not been in portugal for 10 years since 1998.

intresting he then says in another report,he attended lisbon film festival in may 2007.

if this is true why did the police not investigate this further,as i undersand it he was only integgerated over the phone.

The frenchman's claim that he was not been to Portugal for years was in a response to an email sent to him by (now I could be wrong but I think this is right) Paul Reis (the so called 'journalist')

So of course, that would make the answer as good as the gospel, so no further investigation was probably done.

One would think that the PJ had asked him themselves, and then investigated whether or not what was told was the truth.

We will just have to wait for the files to be interrogated.
