Madeleine McCann went missing from her family's
holiday apartment in the town of Praia de Luz in Portugal nearly 3
years ago.

She was days away from her fourth birthday.
Her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, tell the BBC's Mike Williams why
they still believe their daughter is alive.

McCann

The parents of Madeleine McCann say they believe there are people in Portugal and
Britain who do not want their daughter to be found, ahead of the third
anniversary of her disappearance.

Madeleine went missing from a holiday flat in Praia da Luz on the Algarve, Portugal, aged
three.
Madeleine's mother Kate says some people would be "greatly embarrassed" if her
daughter was found.

McCanns say there have been attempts to
'derail' search

Thousands of people have joined a sickening "hate group" on Facebook which pokes fun at
missing Madeleine McCann.

The page on the social networking website has about 6,500 "fans",
several of whom have posted obscene jokes about the little girl.

Others have directed abuse at her parents, Gerry and Kate.
Facebook said it had begun to remove the most offensive postings
yesterday after being alerted by the Leicester Mercury.

However, it said it would not be pulling down the page, nor removing
many other offensive comments.
The founder of the page, which was set up in late February, has posted
regular updates, boasting about the number of members it has attracted
and suggesting he or she knows where Madeleine
is.

In one entry, the person writes: "(This) seems to be the place people
have chosen for disrespectful Maddie jokes, and I LIKE it!!"

Madeleine's mother Kate says some people would be "greatly embarrassed" if her daughter
was found.

Gerry and Kate McCann, from Rothley, said yesterday they hoped Facebook
would remove any "libelous or deeply offensive" comments, but they
said they would not be commenting further.
Their spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, said: "We simply will not dignify
these sorts of sites with any kind of comment whatsoever.
"Their disgraceful nature speaks for itself."

In a statement, Facebook said that while it would always take down
indecent comments about children as soon as it was made aware of them,
other potentially offensive comments would not be removed.
The company said: "While we sometimes find people discussing and
posting about topics that others may find controversial, insensitive or
even offensive, it is not alone a reason to remove the discussion.

"The unfortunate reality is that ignorance still exists, both on and
off Facebook, and we believe such ignorance won't be defeated simply by
covering up the fact it exists but rather by confronting it head on."
The page had gained 17 new "fans" yesterday by 5pm.

The Leicester Mercury learned about the group after a concerned
Facebook member got in touch.
They did not wish to be named, but said: "We find it sickening that
people have such a terrible attitude to other people's grief."

Members were posting jokes on the page as recently as Wednesday.
A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Constabulary said it would not comment
on the page because the investigation into Madeleine's disappearance
was being led by Portuguese police. Madeleine went missing from Praia
da Luz, Portugal, in May 2007.

'Disgraceful'
hate group on Facebook poking fun at Madeleine McCann

KATE McCann has admitted that after daughter Maddie disappeared there
were times she wished she and her family were dead.

Speaking just two days before the third anniversary of Maddie's
abduction on May 3 2007 Kate revealed her agony was so great that she used to hope
that her, husband Gerry and their twins Sean and Amelie would die in an
accident.

She said: "I used to have thoughts like we'll get wiped out in the car
on the motorway. So it would just happen, we'd all be gone, and the pain would be away."

She says those thoughts eventually went away saying: "What I do know now
for sure is that I don't want that. Things have changed. I am desperate
to be here with Sean and Amelie and to help find Madeleine."

Maddie was snatched from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal.

Today an angry Kate, 41, branded the Portuguese investigation into her
daughter's disappearance a "farce".

She hit out at the fact that Portuguese cops are no longer looking for
Maddie and that any new leads are ignored by them.

Kate said: "If this was a murder inquiry there'd be an active
investigation because they'd want to find the perpetrator, but as it
stands

we have a perpetrator who's still at large and therefore puts,
potentially puts, other children at risk, and we have a missing child. So why is
there no active investigation?

"I think it's a farce."

Husband Gerry is equally as angry that the search for Maddie has ended,
saying: "Officially for eighteen months and longer, law enforcement are
not pro-actively doing anything to find Madeleine, and who took her, and
I just think that is fundamentally unacceptable.

"Now we've been assured that if new information comes in it will be
followed up.

"In fact the information that's come to light during the recent court
cases have shown that almost every single piece of information that's
gone to Portimao, the police station in the Algarve where the investigation
is based, has been treated in exactly the same manner, which is being
declared as not relevant."

In the past Kate and Gerry, from Rothley, Leicestershire, have avoided
criticising the Portuguese police investigation into Maddie's
disappearance.

But as the agonising third anniversary of her abduction looms the
McCanns have made it clear how hopeless they think the efforts of some of the
Portuguese cops have been.

Heart specialist Gerry, 41, said: "There have been very poor elements of
the Portuguese investigation, and at the same time it's probably been
one of the biggest investigations ever in Portugal.

"So we aren't tarring everyone, there have been individuals who, for
whatever reason, have seemingly not wanted to find Madeleine. That's how
it appears to us.

"So there are people who are clearly making it more difficult and there
are others that in this country, for whatever motives, want to make it
more difficult. There are many people who've tried to derail what we're doing
along the way."

Kate says she fears that there may be other motives which have hindered
the search for her daughter.

She admitted: "I also think there'll be some people who would be greatly
embarrassed if Madeleine was found and that scares me. That scares me.
That might affect their want, or not, for Madeleine to be found."

The McCanns are planning to spend this weekend quietly at home with
Maddie's twin brother and sister Sean and Amelie who are now five.

The family will attend their local catholic church on Sunday, the day
before the anniversary, to say prayers for Maddie.

Talking about the twins Gerry said: "Their recognition that what's
happened is morally very very wrong and that their sister should be at
home with them.

"Needless to say Sean in particular talks about having an aeroplane and
flying all over the world looking for 'that man who's taken Madeleine',
and when he gets him he's going to rescue her and take his sword out."

Kate says she prays that whoever has her daughter is taking care of her
saying: "You just hope that somebody who is looking after Madeleine,
that she is now not at harm and she's getting love and happiness. That's
all I can hope for."

She says she will never give up searching for Maddie saying: "You know
in my heart I feel she's out there. I really do.

"And that, together with the feeling that I have of this not being over,

of her still being there. The hardest thing obviously is how do we find
her?"

Gerry admits that in the days after Maddie disappeared he thought the
worse saying: "Early on we couldn't think of anything else but the worst
case, that she's been taken, abused and killed and dumped, or maybe left
seriously injured and dumped out in the freezing cold."

Despite the fact that they regularly attend the Catholic church near
their home Gerry admitted that Maddie's abduction has made him question his
faith.

He said: "If anything when this first happened it strengthened my faith.

I felt that there was such support and I really felt that may have been
God's work, that something good was going to come out of this. I had a
lot more hope that this would lead to a relatively quick outcome."

But he admitted that as time has gone on his belief in God has faltered
saying: "I'm struggling much more now, without a doubt, I think that
for one child to have been the recipient of so many millions of prayers,
you think well I do have my doubt.

"You think, well if those prayers were going to work, they should have
worked a long time ago."

I meant to post this here ..

The McCann couple will mark the third anniversary of the disappearance
of their daughter with an interview on the Cuatro TV channel in Spain.

They will be interviewed by Concha Garcia Campoy, presenter of the programme
“Las Mañanas de Cuatro” who spent the last weekend at the McCann’s
house in England.

The big interview will be transmitted next Monday and will include the presence in the studio of some people
linked to the case. Amongst them there will be police officers, journalists and various specialists. Gonçalo Amaral will also be in the studio.

There are people out there dissecting their words to fit their own agenda. The family is suffering and all these morons can do, is heap more pain and anguish onto their shoulders. They do not care about Madeleine, never have done. All they want to do is insult the family further. I despair of the human race.

Madeleine McCann parents say some don't want their daughter found Empty Re: Madeleine McCann parents say some don't want their daughter found

Post by clairesy Sun May 02, 2010 12:54 pm

my heart goes out to them so much.I do believe Madeleine will be found,i dont know when i hope its soon. There are soo many cases where children are found years later and we have all heard and read about them.

I recently watched a film on true movies about a young boy of 7 (its called, 'i know my name is steven')

He got taken by a 2 men as he walked home from school one afternoon,he was just 7 years old.One of the men was to keep him....... and he told the young boy that he was to be his daddy now.He told him his parents couldn't afford to look after him and that they wanted him to have custody of him and be his new dad,he told the boy his new name was dennis. The child(being just a baby at 7) believed him and didnt make no attempt to run away,he even went to school and went out to play alone and made friends to!!!

He lived as dennis with this sick man who abused him for 7 years. At age 14 the sicko abducted another young boy as he walked home from school....he took the young boy to his home and introduced him to dennis.Dennis stood by and listened to his 'dad' tell the little boy how his parents didn't want him and how he was to be his new dad,and how his new name would be tommy.I guess it gave him major flash backs from the day he was abducted because it was only at this point did alarm bells ring for dennis and he realised that he had also been lied to as a child, that his parents were not dead an did want him,and that he was infact abducted and not given away.

Dennis then ran off with this little boy and got help from police who returned him and the recently abducted boy to his parents.

Seven years later!!!....... but during those 7 long years he had believed his family didn't want him, that they simply couldn't afford to feed him and had given him away.He believed and trusted the guy who was calling himself daddy. It was a moving film,an oldie, but really good. Reminded me of Madeleine in a lot of ways because i often wonder if she is living a life somewhere with people who claim to be her new family. If she to as become accustomed to the new life she as as is unaware that the whole world is looking for her.

Its up to others to find her because i think at this stage Madeleine wont make no attempt to run or get help, shes probably already done that way back in the beginning, and failed to get the attention or result she wanted and as a result felt that her abductors are telling the truth, that they are he new family or careers etc.
Back in the beginning we heard reports of a child saying ''she isn't my mammy, they took me from my holiday'' etc etc.I don't think we will hear of those kind of sightings anymore because i think Madeleine as stopped trying...she as not been helped so as a result probably come to trust and believe those who hold her. After all no one else as helped her have they?so the abductors must be telling the truth, because if they weren't by now mammy and daddy would have come for me??

I know that sounds harsh, but its the way it works with these sickos, they aint gonna tell her the truth and live a life of fear with her, and a risk of her running or talking to poeple, they need to gain her trust and get her to stay by their sides all the time,to accept them and her 'new life'.That, they have had time to do and have probably succeeded to do so.But i think its important that they dont get the public on their side because if folk like Bennett (the @rsshole) keep believing the mccanns are involved in her abduction then little Madeleine will have a hope in hells chance of being rescued from whatever life she is living.
