Parents of missing Madeleine McCann have said that they are “delighted” that British police have announced plans to launch a missing child alert system on May 25, International Missing Children’s Day.

Kate and Gerry McCann said: “We are delighted and relieved that this system is being introduced. The first hours after a child goes missing are crucial.”

The Child Response Alert would see a description and details of a missing child being potentially sent to millions of mobile phones immediately after the child is reported missing.
