Family distraught at abduction ‘link’ and say hunt is ludicrous.

Maddie yacht owner' found and she's worth £250million Madeleine-mccann-pic-pa-17855316

Madeleine
McCann detectives aim to interview a millionairess after a yacht at the
centre of the inquiry into the child’s disappearance was traced.
Melissa
Karlson’s mother owns the £6million vessel that docked in Barcelona
hours before a mystery woman asked a British tourist: “Are you here to
deliver my new daughter?”
But the family of the 31-year-old
Australian, daughter of £250million socialite Rhonda Wyllie, 52,
yesterday told the Sunday Mirror any suggestion the vessel was involved
with the abduction or the mystery woman was “ludicrous”.
The team hunting three-year-old Madeleine had believed that the mystery powerboat could provide a breakthrough.
Flying an Australian flag, it was seen in Barcelona three days after she vanished in Praia da Luz, Portugal.
Records
show the 105ft boat arrived just hours before a woman – said to look
like Posh Spice Victoria Beckham – approached a British bank executive
and asked: “Are you here to deliver my daughter?”
The woman
was described as slim and “glamorous”, aged 30 to 35, about 5ft 2ins
tall, with short spiky brown hair and speaking with an Australian
accent. The luxury Sunseeker vessel, called Will Power, was reportedly
the only vessel out of nine unaccounted for by Maddie investigators.
It was moored in Barcelona from 12.40pm on May 6, 2007, and left on the 9th for an unknown destination.
Investigators are keen to speak to Mrs Karlson, who runs her mother’s investment group, and Mrs Wyllie to rule them out.
A
source close to the investigation told the Sunday Mirror: “We have been
told about the daughter of the owner of this boat and are aware of who
she is. We understand she’s currently in Perth, Australia, and will be
keen to speak to her to eliminate her from our inquiries.”
The
family last night said they were “distraught” to have been linked to
the Madeleine case but would happily cooperate with police.
Mrs Karlson, married to fashion wholesaler Jamie, is the managing
director of Wyllie Group, her mother’s company. Wyllie Group company
director Craig Coleman, speaking on behalf of Mrs Karlson, said from
his home in Perth: “This is the most ridiculous speculation I have ever
heard. It’s ludicrous.”
It came as investigators working for
Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry McCann, both 41, from Rothley,
Leics, had received dozens of names linked to the e-fit released last
week. More than 600 phone calls have been made by people who saw the
image.
The couple’s spokesman Clarence Mitchell said the team would be working their way through the names given to identify them.
A
woman in Australia yesterday claimed to know the Posh Spice lookalike
as Madeleine mania swept the country but the report turned out to be false.
It emerged that an investigator had already reportedly mounted an Australian surveillance operation.
Undercover
detectives have been watching a number of individuals in Australia for
several months after a tip-off that Madeleine was smuggled there.
But
Australian Federal Police have said they are not involved in looking
for Madeleine and have not been approached by the McCanns.
Ms
Karlson started as a trainee accountant in her father Bill’s property
development company before becoming MD in 2005, six months before his
death.
She reportedly celebrated her 30th birthday with a big
bash at the luxurious Legian Hotel in Bali in March last year. It is
understood celebrity guests were flown in for the night.
Widow Mrs Wyllie, a non-executive director of Wyllie Group, is on Will Power, cruising in the Mediterranean, a spokesman said.

dont think this is saying that the woman who asked ''have you got my new daughter'' as been ruled out because they are only saying they have traced the aussie yacht....and not the woman on the marina who was pacing back and forth.

still got my fingers crossed for good news here!!!

One further point.

Why would they be 'distraught' that they are 'connected' to the Madeleine case? Why would it even matter? It wouldnt matter to me if I were innocent.

And why 'ludicrous'? Do these super rich people think that they have no moral obligation to the rest of society?

They can have themselves ruled out very very quickly. As innocent people, they should have nothing to be upset about, or lose any sleep over. It should give them something to talk about at the country club, or their next dinner party. The selfishness of some people beggars belief.

hi diane,

well put it this way, they sure as hell think they are a more uppa class breed of the human race than the rest of us...and all because they have the cash to look good in a posh car house or boat!!!...imo we are all equal and can all scrub up and fine pretty fine with a few million bucks in our pockets. But it doesn't or shouldn't exclude people from being exactly the same as the next person....and as you said, being questioned and probed in an investigation shouldn't matter to them if they are innocent. Its not ludicrous...its ludicrous to suggest its ludicrous lol.

heres another link i have got just been emailed via google alerts.....talks more about this yacht, says the woman who they wish to talk t is currently on board the boat in the Mediterranean and is aware she is wanted to be questioned with regards to what she was doing with the boat in the marina at Barcelona etc.

That boat is really great.

Year ago I was working in the centre of Sydney at a client site for a couple of weeks and the Boat Show was on at Darling Harbour. I went for a look and couldnt believe the luxury of these boats. And none were this size. I am impressed.

On the ludicrous 'ludicrous' statement. There have been plenty of rich people who have committed crimes, and it is the height of arrogance for these people to think they should not be held to the same standards as the rest of us. Just in the recent past, Bernie Madoff and texas billionaire R. Allen Stanford have been indicted and Bernie is now in gaol. The max factor heir, the Kennedy Smith rape case, oh I could go on and on. They need to get over themselves and get on with it.

I have to be honest im a little worried about them letting these people they are wanted to be questioned though. The woman they would like t talk to is on board the boat in the med at the moment and they are hoping to speak t her about the movements of the boat and why it was n the marina at Barcelona etc.

the reason im worried is because im thinking if she does know something or as madeleine on that boat could it be dangerous to leave her at sea until she docks somewhere??If she is with someone on that boat and gets scared, could it be dangerous for madeleine?

I think they just want to rule her out..i don't think that boat is involved if it was they would be on top of it now in planes tracking her and getting a boat out to the yacht to put officers on board. But as Clarence once said, they are always one step ahead of what we hear in the papers so.....

No, Claire, they wont do DNA, you need some sort of proof for that.

They probably will want staff records etc, to confirm with the staff that what the woman says is true.

Actually, I dont believe any connection with the boat exists, and will be pretty easy to rule it out. It is just a coincidence. Rich woman dont go around abducting children, why would they?

Vee and Clairesy

Catalan is a language in its own right. One of the various languages in the Iberian Peninsula. It is a latin language. Not a dialect.

And it is the language spoken in Barcelona, capital city of Catalunya.

That's interesting, I see that "ludicrously" rich people are not above breaking the law and endangering the lives of other innocent people then!

I am not suggesting that these people are involved in Madeleine's abduction, but I would like to point out a few things.

Just because they are rich does not rule out them from trafficking in children, many people get mega rich, trafficking in something! Legal and illegal! It would not be the forst time that mega rich people were caught doing something highly illegal. Be it drugs, children, pornography paedophilia, or, tobacco, WINE or leather jackets etc or all the above! Again NOT suggesting these people are involved, in any way shape or form, but they need to be investigated and ruled out, just like anyone else would expect to be.

Just because people are mega rich does not mean that they had nothing to do with Madeleine's abduction either. Again there are a great many scenarios I could think of that may include them or disclude them in this.

Equally it is probably not this boat, but this does not disclude that it was not another boat in the area at the same time and this mystery woman, is it the same woman as was seen in the club? If it was, then why was agitated? I would rule out she was waiting for drugs, if this type of person wanted drugs, I doubt she would be there to collect them in person, she probably has a supply on board, or she would send someone else.

If they were involved, of course they are going to deny it, they are hardly likely to say to the world's press, oh OK it is a fair cop, we put our hands up and admit it, we abducted Madeleine.

IF (big if) they did behave like this when questioned (and this may be press sensationalisation again) then the way they flew on the defensive would cause me to raise my eyebrows, why would they describe the fact they need to explain about where they were as "ludicrous?" I would have thought an educated person would see the need to explain clearly and concisely and clear up anything and then be ruled out of the enquiries, why fly off the handle and go on the defensive like this?

Remember the footballer and his wife, who had their child held by someone who mistook him for Madeleine? They had a right to be upset about someone putting their hands on their son, but they did not get upset, they just cooperated and cleared it up, later saying they were pleased to help and understood why the person behaved in such a way - end of story.

So why are these people reportedly acting like this?

How do we know it wasn't crew members which carried this abduction out? I would imagine a boat that size, a small girl could be well hidden and even if she cried at the top of her voice for prolonged times, the chances of hearing her would be slim.

Just because this woman is rich on this yacht, how do we know a "poor little rich kid" did not get herself involved in something she could not get out and then was being blackmailed? How do we know she wasn't hook line and sinker head over heals in love with someone, who completely controlled her? Her being rich does NOT disclude her from these possibilities. (Look at what happened to Patty Hearst!)

I hope they decide to talk to the McCanns detectives.

This may or may not be the boat in question, let's wait and see what develops.

Yes Mod. And if you wander through the site, you will get pictures (fotos) of the interior (not specifying which is which though) and menus! (carta) for at least 50 people and ... students. All reasonably priced, I would say, considering what is on offer, and that we are talking about Barcelona.

Well, Mod, at least this one at Port Olimpic is referred somewhere. But I also found this http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Europe/Spain/Catalunya/Barcelona-274654/Restaurants-Barcelona-El_Rey_de_Gamba-BR-1.html which is mainly about the other 2 at Joan de Borbó, which is closer to the city centre a bit further away from the marina.

Rosie - You may be right about one of the crew members. Remember that Brian Ladd keeps saying something about Madeleine being in a very small space, like a crate. Perhaps she was hidden somewhere on the boat, which would have to have been a small space. The thought of that scares me though, what would a crew member want with a small child. I would much rather think that the owners had something to do with her abduction.

Mod

No, I'm not saying they are downmarket, just that they are 'popular'. A meal for some 30+ euro cannot be considered 'downmarket' but a very good deal considering that the main serving is seafood.

That is why the witness was there with a big group (stag night wasn't it?).

About the 'reviews' I sent, I would like to clarify one or two things. There are references to not so nice waiters. Well, spaniards are arrogant, no doubt about that. And they have their 'preferences' with relation to people. I was once in Barcelona on business, and was so badly treated that had to shout at the hotel reception that I wasn't a b###dy british tourist so I demanded to be properly room serviced served my continental breakfast, and have access to an outside line on my phone (I did not tell them I was portuguese though, that is even worse than being a b###dy british tourist lol...). So yes, you will find unkind assertive waiters.

But back to the point I was trying to make. These are poular seafood restaurants, all set in popular touristic areas and I would not be surprised to meet well off people having diner there, parties, etc. Well off, affluent people. Not 'ludicrously' rich people. I can't picture that australian multimllionaire there, alone, walking nervously up and down and answering a 'question' from a total stranger with a typical request of a specific amount of a specific drug type. Of course, this last bit (what was said) reached us through the media, not from the PIs press conference... In any case, I can't picture her there, unless she is deranged, and I'm being serious here, and litterally escaped from the boat.

Well, I feel this reasoning is becoming too serious, so may be I'll sit in the lounge and reason there, it will be better, I think.
