Police chief Goncalo Amaral admits errors in Madeleine McCann case
By Rod Chaytor 8/05/2009
The police chief who led the botched investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann yesterday finally admitted Portuguese police bungled the job.
Goncalo Amaral said: Its true. At the time there was no set procedure for a missing child. The crime scene was not well looked after.
He also admitted a reconstruction should have quickly been organised. Madeleine was three when she vanished from her parents holiday apartment in Praia de Luz two years ago last Sunday.
Retired Amaral, 49, moved off the inquiry after five months, is now plugging a new book in France and demanding cash for interviews.
In an article published in Le Parisien newspaper yesterday, he accused Madeleines parents Kate and Gerry of covering up the truth despite the fact they were officially cleared by Portuguese police last July.

Strewth, what next, an apology??
But this bit is not true, "At the time there was no set procedure for a missing child." We all know the standard procedure is to frame the parents.

If there was no procedure for dealing with missing chidlren, then how did they deal with the ones that had gone missing previously????
And it also begs the question of why refuse the help of the British Police and the FBI who i believe both offered to send specialists in to help with the investigation.

Dianeh, you have just hit the nail on the head. No procedure? and how many kids are missing from Portugal?
To admit to this is down right disgusting, when they wouldn't even let anyone else near for over 2 months, WHY!!!!!

Maybe he and a crowd of others, Bennett and 3Aers, are suddenly feeling very frightened?
Wonder what life is like in
Will they stay arrogant until the end?
