Spanish police investigating Maddie clue in Nerja
Portuguese police have sent a clue to the Spanish police in locating Madeleine McCann town of Nerja, Malaga. The Spanish authorities are working on this information, the newspaper writes today Malaga "Diary Sur."

According to the Diario Sur, the information came to the Spanish police for about ten days by e-mail. Email this were the case data that had been given by an informant who claimed to have seen the Andalusian town of Nerja a girl with a great physical resemblance to Madeleine McCann.

The research is now in charge of the Specialized Unit and Violent Delinquency (UDEV) of the Judicial Police of Spain. This brigade, the Diario Sur advances, it is investigating the case Ruth and Joseph, two brothers who disappeared on October 8 in Cordoba.

The track of the informant is being examined by the police "as it makes all more or less reliable information that arrives on Madeleine," said a source close to the case, quoted by the Spanish.

Since it disappeared, 3 May 2007 in Praia da Luz (Lagos) where she was with her parents Gerry and Kate McCann and the twins, there were many clues that they are aware of the possible presence of a minor in various locations in Spain. And, according to the Daily Sur, not even the first time in Málaga map.

Nerja is a small resort town in southern Spain, near Malaga, is known to have been the scene of the recordings of the television series "Summer Blue".

I am unsure of the timeline of these reports. One says the tipoff was 10 days ago.

Is that an old story Rosemary?, as its dated today.

It is yet another" new" sighting in Nerja. These reports are coming up as breaking news a few hours ago. So it is the second or third sighting of a lookalike here in Nerja. But it happened 10 days ago. The Olive Press report explains it.

It could be a genuine lookalike of course, which is why she has been seen so often. And openly seen in a supermarket.
With the other sightings before the police must have been already all over this place like a rash, I would have thought. But they keep coming back....

I know this little town. A large expat community here. Not the best place to hide Maddie.

I dont know that I could recognise Madeleine now, even if she were standing beside me. She is not the little girl that was taken.

But it is heartening to see that people are still looking for her, and reporting it to the police.

Spain police investigate Madeleine McCann 'sighting'


Spanish police are investigating a reported sighting of Madeleine McCann in a Costa del Sol resort.

Specialist officers are following up a tip-off received about 10 days ago that a girl resembling the missing British child was spotted in Nerja, 30 miles east of Malaga, sources said.

The possible sighting is being handled by the specialised and violent crime unit (unidad de delincuencia especializada y violenta, or UDEV) of Spain's judicial police, the Malaga-based Sur newspaper reported.

It is understood that Scotland Yard detectives reviewing the case are liaising with their Spanish counterparts about the latest lead.

Madeleine was nearly four when she went missing from her family's holiday flat in Praia da Luz in the Algarve on May 3 2007 as her parents Kate and Gerry McCann dined with friends nearby.

There have been hundreds of possible sightings of her all over the world since she vanished, but so far they have all come to nothing.

Her parents are preparing to mark the fifth anniversary of her disappearance next month.

McCann family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: "Kate and Gerry are aware of this particular report from Spain. It was absolutely right that the police investigate any potential lead.

"Kate and Gerry remain very grateful for the co-operation of the police in the search for Madeleine."
