Portuguese Prime Minister meets with Cameron in London on Wednesday
The Prime Minister travels to London next Wednesday for a meeting with his British counterpart, David Cameron.
According to official sources, the agenda of the meeting, which will take place at 17:00 (local, same time in Lisbon), will be "European issues".
Recently, David Cameron signed a letter signed by twelve prime ministers of the European Union, addressed the presidents of the European Commission and European Council, urging community leaders to engage in more economic growth and employment and to adopt a new approach to trade.
The letter indicated then the British executive, has been signed by countries "tuned" ("like minded") in London - German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, and the head of the Portuguese Government were not invited to join to the initiative.
Pedro Passos Coelho then held that the British initiative was "reasonably in consensus that it has established (...) within Europe," though not point "concrete ways" or "concrete measures".
"So the fact that the Portuguese Government had not been consulted on this issue in particular has great meaning for me, I must say, nor mean that there is some standing here now or pout or any personal tantrum. These things are not treat these terms. the meaning of the contents of the letter does not deserve our disagreement, "he concluded.
In this respect too, the Prime Minister held that there was "a Franco-German axis that dominates Europe," but "two large economies, German and French, who have through their leaders, the French president and German chancellor tried to tune in positions that can help Europe to overcome this crisis. "
