Imã sentenced to prison for marrying 12 year old girl
An imã was sentenced Wednesday to four years ago with illegally marrying a girl of 12, in Indonesia.

"The accused was found guilty of having sex with a minor, as such, is sentenced to four years in prison," said the judge in the court of Hari Mulyanto Ungaran in central Java island.

The prosecutor also asked for a sentence of six years' imprisonment, stating that Widiyanto "was not a good example as the owner of a religious school."

Present in the courtroom, the girl began to cry after the condemnation of the supposed husband.

Pujiono Cahyo Widiyanto, 45, chose for his wife, Lutfiana ULFA, 12, a young woman from a family in need.

The minimum age of marriage in Indonesia is 16 years, yet the country has strict laws that punish child abuse, but the unofficial marriages between older men and young girls continue to occur in rural areas.
