PGR shall determine whether there was "criminal offense"

Casa Pia: Government calls for investigation to dental treatment.

The Secretary of State for Solidarity and Social Security asked the Attorney General's Office (PGR) to ascertain whether there was "a criminal offense" in the implementation of a protocol that led to the dental treatment of 507 children from Casa Pia de Lisboa.

In a letter sent to the Attorney General's Office (PGR), which the agency Lusa on Tuesday had access, Marco Antonio Costa required from Pinto Monteiro to undertake "all necessary steps to establishment of possible criminal offenses underlying the implementation of the Study Effects of Dental Amalgam in Children's Health, "developed under a protocol signed in 1997.

To this end, António Costa, whom the Minister of Solidarity and Social Security has delegated powers in respect of Casa Pia, provides up "now to provide any elements considered relevant to the investigation" who now calls. Participation, the minister stated that the study in question was the subject of a report by the RTP, May 28, 2012, entitled "The Guinea Pigs" and that it is stated that the substances used in the treatments were "very toxic". It also states that the report mentions that "the tests in question had never been made even in animals and that it would have been made with the knowledge of the authorities" and therefore as responsible guardian of the house Pia, you want to ask, through the Ministry public about the existence of "any criminal offense" in implementing the Protocol.
