Child sex attackers 'avoiding jail'
Last Updated: Friday, 29 May 2009, 03:58 GMT

Six convicted child rapists avoided jail in a single year, official figures have revealed.
Ministry of Justice statistics showed two paedophiles were given suspended sentences for sex attacks on children under 13.
Four other dangerous sex attackers were given community sentences.
That means one in 12 of all child rapists over 21 was not given an immediate custodial sentence that year.

The figures were released to shadow justice secretary Dominic Grieve in written Parliamentary answers. He said dangerous offenders were "cheating justice" because the prisons are full.
"It is hard to think of any circumstances in which an adult who rapes a young child should avoid jail," he said. "Labour have pressurised judges to use community sentences inappropriately because the prisons are full, but the result is that dangerous offenders cheat justice and children are put at risk."
The figures, for 2007, show that of 69 convicted rapists 63 were jailed immediately.

The maximum jail term for anyone found guilty of rape or attempted rape is life imprisonment.

Sentencing guidelines suggest attackers who are older than their victims should receive a substantial prison term.

A non-custodial sentence should only be given out in "exceptional" cases if the offender is a youth, they say. But in all these cases offenders were aged over 21 and their victims under 13.

Any 21 year old, and much younger, knows that it is wrong to abuse anyone, especially a child. Is this another sign of our grab, grab, grab ...I want it, I want it, I want it.....I'm GONNA HAVE IT, I'm GONNA HAVE IT.....cos I WANT IT, SOCIETY?

Is this laxity with sentencing paedophiles the beginning of an open invitation to child rapists and molesters? What's happening? Does this mean our judiciary are getting soft on child rapists and paedophilia? Is this a sign that paedophilia is becoming acceptable in the UK?.........or that the Judiciary are infiltrated by paedophiles?

What's going on? Any civilised society protects it's weakest members.

Do children have diminished rights?

IT'S TIME TO WAKE UP GREAT BRITAIN!

Suspended sentences? Avoided jail? This is not the right way to protect innocent children.

Thats sick, shame on the uk government.I thought they would be a better example of how to treat sex offenders...........

mind you saying that.........A man near me was jailed for abusing girls from the 70's right up until just recently .Recently he was areseted after his 6 years old granddaughter cried when her parents got her ready to go and vist him at his home....she told what he was doping to her and her sister and he was given just 7 years in jail. That 7 years included the attacks on other girls he had abused in the village over the years..............some of them are women now,and appeared in court to tell of what he done to them when they were kids

Because of the term already served that means he as about 18 months left of his sentence. However not long ago i heard how he is coming out on tag!!! disgusting.absolutely disgusting imo.Women and childrern are not safe these days.

this bit baffled me..........................

so are they saying if a 30 year old gets attacked a by a 20 year old the 20 year old is younger so therefore will be treated lightly because he is younger than his victim???omg!! imo no matter what age you are if you abuse someone then you should be delt with properly.imo that means casteration and hanging..........................when these b"astards are hung the jails wil be free to jail other criminals for other crimes to. Free up our prisons, hang the scum i say
