International Missing Children's Day, 25 May 2010 How You Can Help!
International Missing Children's Day, 25 May 2010, is a day where people around the world commemorate the missing children who have found their way home, remember those who have been victims of crime, and continue efforts to find those who are still missing.
The main purpose of Missing Childrens Day is to encourage everyone to think about children who remain missing and to spread a message of hope.
Australia, Canada, Brazil, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Romania, The Netherlands and the United Kingdom, member countries the Global Missing Children’s Network, have joined to raise awareness of the impact and issue surrounding missing children and to help bring them home by spreading a global message.
Do You have children ?
As a parent myself I have used my own initiative, and thought of a way we can help to raise the awareness of missing children.
It was a quite simple request, to the headmaster of my children's school.
On May 25th 2010 our school is holding a non-uniform day, he is asking for the children to wear yellow for Awareness & Hope.
Each pound paid per child will be donated to Missing kids Uk.
He has also agreed to put the Missing Children flash banner up on the school website.
Please remember Missing Children's Day is International.
Please ask your local headmaster to do the same, and help bring our missing children home.
Thank you.

Can you imagine if every school did this ?
how much money could be raised to help find missing children & adults ..
It would only take one parent per school to make this request.
We have over 300 kids in our school and the one up the road from me has even more...
and yes I have approached him too !
I wrote to the official site as I was trying to put something together that I could send out.
Their site had not yet been updated for this years event, & we only have 10 more days ..
I suppose the reason I posted it here too was to reach out to people not just parents
everybody is related to a child, and this site does attract alot of visitors.
I was talking with Rosie about 3 weeks back about putting "Madeleine's song" up on the front page.
On this link we had approx. 390 hits we now have 4,429 http://tweetmysong.com/y23426
The most regular comment I see on youtube is "Why Madeleine? What about all the other missing children ?"
Well here is your chance to put those words into action & help make a difference.
Here it is again, just for you "The Visitors"

Ahead of International Missing Children’s Day (25 May 2010), key agencies involved in the issue of missing children have announced that they will be highlighting the day with various different activities.
The charity Missing People will unveil their new three year strategy which will enable more missing children and vulnerable adults to get help when they need it, and improve the support services available for families.
Stephen Fry, a Vice Patron of the charity has lent his support to the plan, saving “When people go missing they can be incredibly vulnerable, often cut off from any kind of support. It is vital that they know where to turn, and commitments in this new plan for missing people will ensure that everyone in this position can access the support they so desperately need.”
As part of commemorations for International Missing Children's Day, the National Policing Improvement Agency will hold a re-launch event for Child Rescue Alert, a nationally supported scheme that enables police forces to broadcast through the media information about a child who has been abducted and who may be at risk of serious harm.
Speakers at the event will include Ken Thomson, the father of missing Andrew Thomson who will have cycled across Europe in a bid to raise awareness of his son’s case and the thousands of other missing children across the world.
In the evening, supporters of Parents & Abducted Children Together are invited to a viewing of an unprecedented collection of balloon drawings, the balloon being the symbol of International Missing Children's Day. Over 100 international celebrities, including Kirk Douglas, Whoopi Goldberg, Sir Roger Moore, Hugh Grant, Andrew Marr and
Robert Pattinson, have let their imagination run riot. Their unique balloon designs and drawings will be auctioned online through Mission Fish on E-Bay that evening.
Martin Houghton-Brown, Chief Executive of the charity Missing People said:“The plight of missing children cannot be solved by any one person or organisation. I am therefore delighted to see supporters, charities and law enforcement agencies come together for the common purpose they all share.
“Every opportunity to raise awareness of this issue is a valuable and a sad reminder of how much more there is still to be achieved.”
Other organisations marking the day include Missing Children Europe and Forever Searching.
